wellllllllll i love my job so far at the hospital!!!
yesterday (monday) and this morning was the orientation. there was about 20 of us and we all just sat in a conference room for pretty much the whole time, and i was the 2nd youngest there so i felt kinda weird. but we played some fun games and made a lot of sports references and i stood up for my spartans, since i was 1 of 2 there!!!
today after my orientation, i had lunch with my boss who's such a cool lady. she's from the phillipines and she's the sweetest lady ever. plus she's 5'0 and keeps showing me off to everybody in the hospital saying how i'm the shortest one in my family. i learned how to do an ekg which isn't so hard, and i got my anatomy lesson of the thorax, which i already know from the cardiovascular section in physiology that i took earlier this semester. (plus in the orientation i got an anatomy lesson of the wrist which was really amazing!)
the ekg's weren't too difficult but it's once you get all of the electrodes on the person and get the ekg to get a good read that's tricky. thank goodness i only had to give ekg's to women today because i have to shave the man's chest when giving them an ekg (well only the part of the chest where the electrodes go). and all of the people that i work with are super nice, although in two days i'll actually switch over to bixby in adrian since they do more ekg's there than in tecumseh so i'll have to meet everybody else first to determine if they're nice.
but today in orientation the guy was saying that there are only 2 ways that you can get fired: attitude and violation of HIPAA (confidentiality act). this made my day because the reason that i hated all of my other jobs was because of people's bad attitudes and disrespect for one another. i'm glad that this won't be tolerated at the hospital because it's defintely not the environment that i want to be working in.
i've gotten all of my grades back except for anthropology and so far my cumulative gpa is up to a 3.3!! yay i'm getting closer to my goal!! but darnit i was 3 stinking pts away from getting a 3.5 in physiology i was mad!
ok well i think i'm going to go outside and enjoy this beautiful day!!!
