Welcome to my obligatory (but enjoyable) Thanksgiving food post!
I cooked my first full Thanksgiving last year, and thought I had dodged that bullet for 2008. However, I was wrong! And as we are vegetarians, hosting EE's parents, I can't pass up the opportunity to force a vegetarian Thanksgiving onto a few more folks :)
The Menu
Entree: Mushroom, Cheese and Vegetable Strudel (
recipe from Vegetarian Times)
Sides: Cornbread and granny smith apple stuffing
Garlic mashed sweet potatoes
Green beans with crispy shallots (and no cream of mushroom soup or canned onion rings in sight!)
Cranberry and cherry chutney
Whole wheat dinner rolls
Dessert: Whatever EE's mother brings
Wine: Hope Estate Hunter Valley Chardonnay, 2007
I also encourage everyone who is in the position to do so, to donate of your time or food or money this Thanksgiving. Food banks are in desperate need of food to feed the hungry every day, and I believe that food is a basic human right. So to help out some hungry people in the New York metro area, visit
