your 15 minutes is almost up

ESPN's coverage of college football is terrible.

i just watched on sportscenter a section on vince young, and how texas will "try" to replace him. of course, kirk herbstreit and the gang had nothing but the best things to say about him. in fact, they talked him up to be one of the greatest quaterbacks to ever play the game of college football. whether he is or not is irrelivant because everyone knows he's a great player. USC couldn't stop him. nobody could.

but where was he before the rose bowl against USC?

actually, where was he before the heisman? although he was clearly second to an outstanding reggie bush, he never rose much above that, at least in the eyes of sports analysits. While Bush, as expected, won the heisman, Young received the signature pat on the back for having an outstanding year, but that was all he got. All the hype was on Bush.

When vince young helped the longhorns win the rose bowl for texas, it was as if he came out of the blue. All of a sudden, he was the next big star, and Pete Carrol, Reggie Bush, and Matt Leinart found themselves asking if anyone wanted to interview them as reporters ran to young coming out of the locker room. He went from almost no fame to hall of fame seemingly overnight.

he was there all along, but no one chose to notice.

now the only question is not who will replace, excuse me, "try" to replace vince young at texas, but who will replace vince young period? it may seem impossible now for someone to be as great as vince young (sarcasm is a bitch in writing), but trust me...there will be. once there is, they will have their day too, and vince young will drown in the vast ocean of college football's great past.
