Glad to hear you're feeling better, and happy new year!
It's hard to resist the lure of Arthur/Merlin - they're so adorable. It reminds me of the first two seasons of Smallville when the dynamic between Clark & Lex was just ridiculously slashy.
Avatar had mindblowingly good effects, but the plot was definitely the weak point. It was like Dances with Wolves: In Space! Plus the blue people still kinda weird me out, although it did give me the opportunity to scar my boss' psyche by telling him about furries. But Sam Worthington is hot, and I love Sigourney Weaver, so overall I felt it was worth the ticket price (and that's $16.50 to see it in 3D in Manhattan, omg).
Smallville was both terribly lame and terribly slashy, and after the first two seasons I gave up on it. But it was fun back in the day!
Haha, I would never try explaining 4chan to my dad. He was confused enough when I once brought up people commenting to each other by posting gifs.
IKR? Even the regular ticket is about 12 dollars - this was extra for the 3D. And it was extremely cool for the flying and exploring the forest scenes! But I know what you mean about the inappropriate laughter; mine was during the "love scene", since I had JUST talked to my boss about furries right before. All I could think of was how prophetic my remark that furries would be watching this with one hand down their pants.
Ha! I'd love to hear that conversation explaining gif chains. "It's like a conversation with pictures." "Why don't you just have an actual conversation?" "... Because."
Oh, I got my friend to laugh inappropriately during the 'mating' scene (I felt a little sorry for her arranged marriage guy, even though he was an ass. Why do I feel sorry for the asses?). Any way, I whispered something like "He's going to be surprised by where she puts her tail" to her and she broke down laughing. Ahh, nothing like an anal sex joke to irritate other movie watchers prove my superior wit.
Ack, furry hands in furry pants, don't just hand out images like that, it's cruel.
