I suppose that's business and all, but if that $300 (£190) price is true for the US/UK then it means that the 3DS will cost the same as the PS3 in america and we all know how much that hurt their sales, hell it hurt the PSP's sales. Nintendo has been on top the last few years for affordability more than anything else. I've heard of friends buying DSs/Wiis for short-term partners and not batting an eyelid.
With a price like this, no matter how good it is, it's going to be a hard sell. If not for the extremely solid line up of titles (which include Resi, MGS, Star Fox, Kid Icarus and Ocarina of Time) I'd have doubts about it doing too well in launch week. But we shall see come 2011.
