Oh, I'm so glad you wrote this! :-) When I first read "Black-Winged Freedom" I was so distraught at the thought that Jack might actually have killed himself! To see him reappear here, with a brand-new identity -- well, let's just say I'm every bit as happy as Lizzie was to see him turn up alive and well!

And what a great "recast" for Jack -- a ladies' dressmaker! He certainly is intimately acquainted with the female form, and I can't say his clientele wouldn't derive a great deal of pleasure having him personally "size them up" for a fitting! ;-)

Love this part:

He couldn’t take it. It was too much.

She was too close.

No arm of reality keeping a tight grip on her waist.

He surrendered.

In the blink of an eye, his full lips were on hers. There was no surprise in her reaction as she let his tongue dive past the barrier of her teeth. His mouth was hot and soft and welcoming and his tongue as wicked as ever.

He poured everything into that kiss. Everything he was, he had, he had been, everything he had ever craved, everything he had lost, everything he had tried to leave behind. Everything he still felt.

And she understood.

The young woman’s head snapped up immediately, finding Don Juan leaning against the door frame, flashing that golden trademark smirk of his.

“Your dresses will be delivered within two months.”

LOL! Love the sly callback to another Johnny Depp film character! Very clever! ;-)
