A guy whom I work with got stabbed in a parking lot on Saturday. It's so bizarre to hear about, since he is the nicest, quietest person you've ever met. I've heard he's a little into drugs though and has been beaten up before about some girl and her boyfriend or whatever.
I was just reading the news story about it. My coworker said to police that he'd went outside to smoke, and the attacker, who'd been asked to leave the party, leaned out of his car and punched him in the chest. People saw him stagger backward, and saw blood on his shirt. They ran to help and apparently put pressure on the wound and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
The wound was near his heart, and required emergency surgery. I'm amazed that people rushed to help him. I saw him at the pharmacy yesterday so I see he's okay now. What pisses me off is the attacker is only being charged with first degree assault, when it should be attempted murder.
From what I gathered from hearsay, this was a pre-existing fight between the two and it sounds like the guy was drunk and high and actually approached my coworker with the intention of killing him.
Ugh.
