Oh, dear God. I can't express how much I love this (and yeah, don't feel bad about maybe hating me a little, because I maybe hate you just a little too for how very very good this is). That opening paragraph could be, like, a mission statement summing up my views on curtain!fic.

But this story is so much more than that, and you've somehow managed to pack an immense amount of feeling into this and yet keep it beautifully understated at the same time. Psychotic depression is a ridiculously hard topic (I think it is, anyway), but it plays out so subtly here, with all the little hints slowly building up and culminating in that horrible moment of (totally-well-written, btw) action. It's heartbreaking and painful, but your tone is so lovely and measured that it balances out, and the end of the story actually feels more positive than the beginning.

Also? I love you more than words can say for this sentence: Dean has always been very good at faking coolness, faking social interaction, because it’s something very foreign to him and he can imitate, he can learn to copy. This is exactly my interpretation of Dean's character, and I always feel like I'm the only person in the world who believes he's actually not naturally extraverted and chatty.

Aaaaand at the risk of this becoming a psychology essay, I will stop shouting my admiration at you and go to work.

*flails at you because DEAN and his guessing at normality*

Everything you said made me want to bounce around with joy. I love you, actually.

I'd love to read a psychology essay by you on Dean Winchester.
