I posted yesterday the update of this fic of mine, but I didn't a lil quick and I'm afraid my post may have been a lil confusing. SO - here is the way it should have been done....

Title: The Compass (Though - this isn't going where I thought it would so the title may change soon...)

Well, the easy way to post links is by using the Enriched Text version of the update page. When you open an update page (or edit one), at the bottom of the text box, but above the 'mood', 'music' and 'user pic' you'll see a link to it. Click it, and the text box will change to one with buttons over it. It'll now work as a word window, and you'll be able to use italics, bolds, underlined and scratched, among others. You will also be able to use LJ user links, for people (i.e. ranty_rie) or comms (i.e. sparrabeth).

Check LJ's FAQ, it has all the important information you need.

Don't worry, a bit of practice and you'll get it all down pat.

I have a question for you: I know how to do the people link, but how do you do the group link? This has alluded me for some time now....

Like I said, in the Enriched Text window, it's easy. There's a button, I believe it's the first one in the line, that has the LJ profile icon, click on it and write the user name of the people or com you want to link (ie, ranty_rie, sparrabeth) on the small window that will pop. Don't panic if you try to post a link to a com and in the window appears as a people link, it'll correct it once it's posted with the correct icon.

For comments, or if your browser doesn't support the Enriched Text window, here's the code.

For people: [lj user="username"], exchanging the "[]" with "<>". Ex. ranty_rie

For communities: [lj comm="username"], exchanging the "[]" with "<>". Ex. sparrabeth

I hope that helps. I spent quite a few months struggling with this myself, so I'm glad to give a hand if I can. ;)
