Drabbles - part 2

The Name I Loved - SHINEE

“What was I to you, exactly?”

Jinki swallowed.

“Come on, Jinki. Are you going to lie to me again?” Jinki winced at the harshness of Kibum’s voice. “Like you’ve always done?”

“Kibum… it’s not like that. It was never-“

“Then what? What was I ever to you?”

Jinki couldn’t answer. How could he? Not when…

Kibum’s eyes filled with tears.

“…I see. I see where this is heading.”

“Kibum, no!” Jinki had to explain himself. Like, now. Why was it that he just couldn’t find the right words?

“Bye, Jinki.” Kibum’s eyes were cold and unforgiving now, the tears hidden behind eyes belonging to a stranger. “I’ll see you around.”

When Kibum left Jinki collapsed against the door frame.

What were you to me, Kibum?

You were the name I loved.

Look Only At Me - TAEYANG

Taemin was enthralled by the set. It’s not that he had never been to a filming set before, it was just that this one was really spectacular. The lights, the cameras, the people - Taemin found that his mouth had opened on its own accord.

“Taemin-ah, close your mouth,” There was obvious laughter in Minho’s voice. “Or you’ll look like you’ve never been to a filming set before.”

Now, Minho was vastly different from Taemin. He was actually cool with all this. Expectedly so, of course, seeing that he’d been coming to this set for almost two months now. After hearing about filming for so long, Taemin had bugged Minho to take him along one time. So, here he was.

He was so caught up in admiring the extensive camera and light equipment that he hadn’t notice Minho leaving his side. Minho-?

He spun around wildly, looking desperately for Minho. Everything suddenly seemed scary and intimidating without Minho standing by him, and although Taemin knew it to be ridiculous, he suddenly felt like crying. The things that had amazed him earlier was now starting to scare him a whole lot.

Minho-?

Finally, he spotted Minho chatting with someone near the centre stage. Relief washed over him.

“Minho hyung!” He ran towards him, throwing his arms around the taller boy.

To his utmost shock, Minho barely gave him a glance before resuming his conversation with that person (who looked like one of the hyungs from Super Junior). More than that, he shrugged off Taemin’s arm.

Shrugged off. He actually shrugged off Taemin.

Taemin’s mind was still reeling from the shock when he realized that Minho was laughing -actually laughing- and it wasn’t with him. Looking up, he noticed that Minho and that SuJu hyung was having a great time talking, and he was probably being a little intrusive.

His heart broke.

Hyung, look at me.

As he walked away from the two still deep in conversation, he realized he knew what it felt like to be rejected.

Fifteen - TAYLOR SWIFT

Ring ding dong, ring ding dong.

Taemin swayed his hips to the rhythm of the song, and couldn’t help but smile. He knew he shoudn’t, but he glanced to his left - to Minho hyung and Key hyung - and to his right - to Jinki hyung and Jonghyun hyung - and his smile only got bigger.

“Taemin-ah, look in front!” The director snapped. Taemin immediately complied, but the smile didn’t leave his lips.

He was tired, of course. The dancing and singing and signing and practicing had all been exhausting, of course, but…

But he loved it.

He truly did.

The first few months, he hadn’t believed the abrupt change in his lifestyle. Suddenly, he went from singing himself to sleep every night to singing to masses of screaming fans. It’d taken some getting used to, but Taemin was always one to adapt fast to changes. Moreover, a change like this…

“Taemin-ah, want to help me fix dinner?”

Taemin looked up to see Key’s face peer through the door frame.

He loved the performing, of course.

“Yes!” Scrambling up, he hurried after Key.

But more than that, he loved the four new friends he had made.

Didn’t he just love being fifteen?

Love Pain - SHINEE

Key stared at Minho.

“W-What do you mean-“

“I mean exactly what I said, Kibum.”

Ouch. That hurt.

“But-“

“I don’t want to make this painful… for either of us.”

Key didn’t think it could get any more painful than it was now.

Minho took a deep breath.

“Listen, Kibum.” Like Key hadn’t been listening from the start.

“This has to end…” Minho sighed, again, and seemed to lose all willpower to continue. He leaned heavily against the door.

Key looked at him for a moment, and decided that for once, he’d be the one to say goodbye. So without letting Minho finish, he turned around and walked off, away from the only person who ever gave him love pains.

You didn’t want to.

But things that we want to avoid just happen, regardless.

Fearless - TAYLOR SWIFT

“Yah! Taemin! What-“

“HI HYUNG! IT FEELS SO NICE UP HEREEEEEE!” Taemin screeched at the top of his lungs.

Jinki panicked.

“Taem-Taemin… come-down-“

“HYUNG! WHY DON’T YOU COME UP TOO?” Taemin laughed -Jinki thought it sounded a little insane- and swung his legs hard under him. Jinki was now absolutely freaking out. Taemin - his Taemin - was sitting - no, dangling - from some dangerously high bars, and what if he ohmygod-

Jinki’s thoughts were now running amok, and the sight of Taemin’s carefree, complacent expression was doing nothing for his pounding heart.

“YAH! TAEMIN! GET DOWN HERE!”

Taemin pouted.

“Aw, hyung, come on. I’m just having a little fun…” Taemin giggled and then fell silent, his expression turning a little solemn. He sighed as he continued, “You know how we never have fun nowadays…”

Jinki felt his heart break a little at those words.

“I-I know.” The words escaped Jinki before he knew it. What the-?

“Anyway, you know that I’m FEARLESS, right!” Taemin flashed his pearly whites at him in glee. “I’m not afraid of anythin-ahh…”

Jinki knew what was happening before it happened.

Rushing forward, he cried out as he caught the falling boy in his arms and they tumbled to the ground together. Even when rolling, he tried his best to cover Taemin as much as he could, because he couldn’t bear to see him injured, and now he-

A dull, sickening pain erupted at his elbow as it collided with the sidewalk.

Jinki gasped as they came to a stop.

“Taemin-ah…” Jinki tried to inject more concern into his voice, but the pain in his arm was seriously hampering him. “Are you alright?”

“Yes, hyung! But you’re not-“ Taemin sounded close to tears as he supported Jinki into a half-sitting position. “-I’m sorry…”

The pain was getting unbearable, but Jinki was going to stay strong for Taemin.

“It’s alright,” he said hurridly, not wanting Taemin to feel guilty. “As long you’re fine, I’m happy…”

“Of course I’ll be fine, hyung. Didn’t I tell you I’m FEARLESS?” Jinki had to smile at the younger boy’s naïveté.

Yes, you’re fearless.

But… I’m not.

I’ll Be Okay - MCFLY

“Are you okay, Kibum?”

Kibum wasn’t. Not really.

“…I’ll be.”

“What d’you-“ Jonghyun didn’t even get to finish his sentence as Kibum slammed his lips against his, effectively shutting him up.

“You-ah-Kibummie -we…” Jonghyun wasn’t good with coherence when kissing.

“…Just kiss me.” Kibum sighed into Jonghyun’s mouth, sending shivers down the older boy’s spine.

Jonghyun could only comply.

They stayed that way for a while, tongues clashing as they fought for dominance, all thoughts of everything else fading into supreme unimportance.

So much so, that Jonghyun almost forgot what he’d entered the younger’s room for.

When things started to get a little heavy - when Kibum’s hands started travelling lower, to a place that yearned for his touch-something finally snapped in Jonghyun’s brain and he realized that he’d entered to actually do something besides fuck.

“-Kibum-ah” He gasped, breaking contact, and Key actually moaned.

“-Please-just-I just need you-“ Kibum was already pulling them closer to each other, and Jonghyun was getting a little too hard down there-

“Kibum, wait.” Kibum let go of his shirt and slumped against the wall, eyes nearly closed.

“Are… are you okay?” Jonghyun didn’t know why, but it seemed imperative that he got this cleared.

“I told you,” Kibum sighed, already reaching to grab Jonghyun once more, apparently irritated that this was what their session had been interrupted for.

“With you here, I’ll be okay.”

Leavin’ - JESSE MCCARTNEY

Taemin gave a dry, humourless laugh.

“And tell him what, exactly?”

“That… you’re leaving.”

Right.

“…I can’t.”

Minho was angry now. “And why not?”

I want to, too.

“I’m better for you, way better,” The sincerity in Minho’s eyes were unbearable to Taemin. “Why can’t you see that?”

Taemin wanted to scream, wanted to shout, wanted to bang his head on the wall. He wanted to scream with all his strength, wanted to tell Minho what he should already know by now. Of course he knew that Minho was better.

But he couldn’t. He shoudn’t.

He can’t. He already has a boyfriend, for god’s sake. A goddamn fucking boyfriend, and he can’t just turn around and say oh, I’m leaving -

But he wanted to. He actually - wanted to -

Taemin sighed.

“Minho…” He turned to leave, before Minho could see the longing in his eyes. Before Minho knew he actually wanted to leave that person for him.

“-Please! Just… tell him. Please…” Taemin gulped. Minho’s begging was the worse because it cut right through his heart. “I need you, can’t you see that?”

Taemin felt a tear slid down his cheek as he purposefully turned his back on the only person he loved, to exit by the door he had came from.

And I need you, too.

You and I - PARK BOM

Taemin hadn’t stop crying. He hadn’t, not since it happened.

“Taem-Taeminnie-“ Taemin didn’t need to look up to know it was Key calling him. The grass beside him changed a little as Key knelt down beside him, to face the one thing that was causing him so much grief. Taemin also didn’t need to look at him to know that Key was crying, too.

“-He-promised-“ That was the only thing he could force out, before being totally overwhelmed by sobs again.

“-Huh, Taemin-?” Key was slightly disorientated, Taemin realized. But he himself was not too coherent too, so who was he to comment - ?

“He loved you,” Key gasped out, finally coherent.

Fresh tears sprung to Taemin’s eyes. “…I know…”

But something, something was still wrong.

“…But he still didn’t keep his promise.”

Now Key was looking at him, a questioning look on his face and was it just him or had Key’s face changed since before it happened -?

Key’s features were soft as they gazed at him. “What is it, Taeminnie?”

Taemin found that words could not get past his mouth anymore, but Key wasn’t pressurizing him so it was okay.

He remembers it quite clearly.

“Who, again?” He had been quite insolent, but Minho had been very patient.

“You… and I.”

But that was now broken, because Minho was gone and now only Taemin was left.

Let Me Hear Your Voice - BIGBANG

“I just… want to hear your voice.”

BEEP.

‘Hello, this is ALMIGHTY KEY! Leave a message after the beeeeeep!’

“Can you… pick up the phone?”

Silence. Of course. It has been this way for the past few nights, when Jonghyun would get so lonely that emptiness would seem to seep into his soul. He couldn’t blame Key, not really, after what had happened, but at the same time he really wanted to.

I just want to talk to you.

He sighed. He really wished he could take back the words he had said, the things he had done. All that time, all he had done was shout, and scream, and talk about himself-

How he’d really punch the then-him in the face if he could, now. Because, seriously, all he wanted now was to hear Key’s voice (and not his own idiotic, self-centered one).

How he missed the boy.

Everything about him haunted Jonghyun now, from the way his eyes lit up when he smiled, to the way his hands had an expert way of relieving any discomfort Jonghyun had -

And his voice. Of course.

Jonghyun remembers the way he could hear it (and feel it) when Key moaned into the kisses they would share, and the way they would make him feel.

Let me hear you voice.

That’s all I want.

Anywhere But Here - HILARY DUFF

Key was pressed up the wall, and Jinki was now all over him.

He hated it.

He felt Jinki’s hands all over his body, and his touch seemed to leave some kind of heat in their wake. Key gritted his teeth in frustration. Apparently, Jinki was having the time of his life kissing Key.

“-Kibum-ah-“ Jinki was trying to talk while kissing, which was somewhat impossible.

Key gritted his teeth somemore in reply.

“Kibum-ah, do you-love-me?”

Key stiffened.

“Jinki-“

“Kibum-ah…”

Key didn’t know what to say. How do you tell someone you hate what they’re doing (and possibly hate them too)?

Jinki pulled away, at last.

“… You can tell me anything, you know.” Jinki’s gaze bored right through Key.

But Key just nodded -why did you nod, you idiot!-and sighed.

Jinki grinned, immediately. Of course, he won’t ever guess who you’re really in love with.

Or that you’d rather be anywhere but here.

Stuck - STACCIE ORRICO

Taemin rolled over in bed and groaned as he caught sight of the glowing LED time.

02:45

He can’t seem to sleep for the whole night nowadays.

All because of… him.

Groaning again, Taemin sat up. A headache caused him to leaned back against the headboard for support, closing his eyes again but not falling back to sleep.

I hate you, Jonghyun.

The very thought of what happened a few days ago was enough to induce nausea in Taemin. Forcing down the bile that rose in his throat, Taemin cursed Jonghyun once again

I really, really, hate you.

You know that?

It was starting to get ridiculous, Taemin knew. Who experienced ‘withdrawal symptoms’ after a break up, anyway?

It’s almost like he was… stuck on Jonghyun, or something.

That bastard.

Suddenly the door to his room burst open.

What the fuc-?

“You.” Jonghyun’s eyes were ablaze.

“What are you trying to do?” Out of all questions in his head (“Do you know it’s 3am?” “ Whatthefuck are you doing here?” “Weren’t you going to ignore me forever?”), he had to utter that one. Typical.

Jonghyun didn’t answer, but pulled Taemin out of bed and slammed him against the wall.

“You don’t have to say, but you’re stuck on me, aren’t you?” Taemin could tell Jonghyun was smirking even in the dark.

As Jonghyun kissed him roughly, all Taemin could think was Yes, yes I am.

HUH - 4MINUTE

“Huh, Kibum…?”

“Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about.”

“I…”

“Don’t you ‘Huh’ me!”

“What the fuc-“

“You know exactly what I’m talking about.” Key was getting testy, and he saw with some contentment that Jinki was cowering slightly.

“Uh… Kibum?”

“Yes.” Key tapped his feet, trying not to go forward to just strangle that damn boy because how dare he -

“I’m sorry.”

Wait… what?

“….I hid things from you, Kibum. I know.” Jinki’s voice was soft now, and - almost - guilty. Kibum would have totally forgiven him if not for the fact that he was so goddamn angry.

“Jinki, why?”

“I… don’t know what you’re talking about, but-” At that, Key exploded.

“You’re doing it again!”

“Doing what!” Jinki was being defensive now.

“Pretending-pretending-“ Key couldn’t even continue anymore, but it didn’t matter because Jinki had stepped forward and was now holding him in a very comfortable position.

“I love you, no matter what,” Jinki said, when Key had calmed down a little. “And that’s something which I can’t pretend.”

Key opened his mouth to speak, but closed it again as it hit him.

Maybe, for one time - this time - he could believe that Jinki was telling the truth.

Collide - HOWIE DAY

It had been painful, the first time they collided.

Minho had been careless, half-running as he looked at his watch and held the phone to his ear, his sister screaming that he was late, did he know he was late, and did he even care how very fucking late he was -

BAM.

Minho had toppled a little and fallen down at the impact, but that did not compare to the effect it had on the person he collided with. That poor boy - for it had been a boy - laid completely flat on the ground, groaning painfully.

Minho’s heart caught -painfully - at the sight.

He got to his feet quickly, and approached the boy.

“Are you-are you…okay?” He didn’t know why, but this boy made him stutter. And Minho was the smoothest talker he knew.

“…Yeah.” Relief had washed over him at the boy’s response: He was okay.

“Let... Let m-me help you up…?” God. What was happening to him?

The boy did, and that’s how they’d gotten to know each other.

Taemin - for that was his name - never really got close to Minho, but somehow they always met, and that was enough for familiarity to breed. Minho saw Taemin many times, at the CD shop he works at. And for some reason, Minho’s heart will break just a little when he saw the secret, shy smile Taemin shared with the cute girl that was his co-worker, even though he hardly knew Taemin and it was just ridiculous to be possessive over a complete stranger.

The last time they collided had been much more painful than the first.

It was almost the same as the first time they met, just that this time, Taemin recovered more quickly.

“Ah, Minho!”

“…Taemin. Nice… to see you.” Minho blushed, though he didn’t know why.

“Sorry about that. I s-seem to be always bumping into you? Ha ha…” God, this was awkward.

Taemin only smiled.

Minho suddenly felt very brave.

“Can I see you again?” He blushed again. “I know I see you all the time but… I’ve never really spoken to you so…”

Taemin’s face fell.

“Minho,” (Why does it feel like Taemin was bidding him farewell?) “Minho… I’m migrating.”

Minho forgot how to breathe.

“Tomorrow.”

And then his heart broke all together, and Minho realized why colliding with Taemin was so painful - because it just broke his heart every time.
