I've recently become privy to exactly how hard we get ass raped by this country....
Every single paycheck you receive with a W2 attached is garnished by State and Federal compensations.... First they take out the federal tax, then the state... Depending on your job, OSHA comes next, then there's a small FEMA tax.... The garnishment thats been bothing me.... Social Security.(SSI)....
Lets say you make $150 a week.... Four dollars every week will be put into social security.... Now say you work twenty years @ that wage.. (cheap asses).... that's 1120 weeks for $168,000 and at four dollars a week, you've paid $4,480 into SSI...
I know it doesn't seem like much for so long but it gains interest from the government at a rate of .02% per quarter... Basically around $40 a year.... And you sit, waiting 'till you turn 65 and can cash in on your retirement.... And here comes the catch...
I'm 25 now.... Personally, I've paid over 6,000 into SSI which pays current claims to senior citizens and disabled.... Its projected that the fund will be dry in 35 to 40 years.... Therefore people my age and younger will be paying into the welfare of previous generations without reward....
