Changes
I got to thinking tonight about the fact that I am a significantly more liberal person now than I was walking onto this campus more than 3 years ago. Some of my opinions that I hold now I could have never imagined before spending time in what is probably the most liberal city in Michigan. And I think thats a good thing, because if you don't get the chance to change over any period of 4 years, thats sad. And its especially sad if that 4-year period is college.
I also think its sad if you haven't gone out of your way to embarass yourself at least once, done something completely irresponsible, gone out for drinks on a weeknight when you definitely have important things to do the next day, and pushed yourself to your limits of time and sanity. Because thats what makes these 4 years so special - you have not one to be responsible for except yourself - and even then, the threshold for responsibility is lower. And while you're busy worrying (or not) about yourself, you're sorrounded by a bunch of other people doing the same thing, and you come out of the whole experience a totally different person than you thought you would.
