Stole this from Teito. Cuz I like some memes.

Top 5 people who influence your character in canon, how and why? Enemies rivals etc included.

1. Jean Hawkins - haha, one of the reasons Virgil sticked with being a superhero instead of quitting was for his mom. Virgil has many conflicted feelings when dealing with his mother's memory. He tackled some of these problems by throwing a fit whenever his mother was mentioned and not talking about her.  But Virgil is still sticking to the superhero business because he wants to protect people and never go through the same pain again. Also, Virgil will always feel partially responsible for his mom's death (because lol trip through time influenced his life). But he will never give up superheroing because it's the right thing to do and because his mom would have wanted it that way.

2. Richie - Oh man, how do I essay about Richie? DD:

OKAY. Anything that happens to Richie on Virgil's watch? VIRGIL FEELS RESPONSIBLE FOR. The bullet wound? Virgil's fault. Brainiac? Virgil's fault. Richie getting kidnapped by Ebon?  Virgil's fault. Richie's broken arm? Virgil's fault. SEEING A PATTERN HERE? Richie and his folks get top priority in Virgil's life, not to mention that Virgil trusts Richie on a level beyond anyone else he knows. If Virgil has something on his mind or he's feeling down or uncomfortable, he'll tell Richie. Automatically. He won't even realize it. And when Virgil has an inflated ego or is just being plain stupid, Richie will kick him in the head until he realizes it  or will pull Virgil out of trouble in the end.

Richie needs his own essay. TO SUM IT UP, Richie is kinda a bit of Virgil's guardian angel. STOP DOING STUPID THINGS V and go play video games. Yeah.

3. Batman (Bruce Wayne) - Didn't expect this, did you?

Virgil looks up to both Green Lantern and Superman, but I prioritize Batman because they have this very strong trust thing going for them. When Virgil voices an opinion or disagrees, BATMAN LISTENS. Sometimes, Batman doesn't agree! But he listens. And Virgil really, really, appreciates that. They also lean on each other for help! Virgil likes to think Batman is like his pseudo-mentor figure.

During the Brainiac crisis, the League decides that Richie must die. Virgil, of course, wants to go and PROTEST.

Green Lantern: You're not coming
Virgil: But, Batman! [turns to him]
Batman: He's right. You're too close to this.

I always find it interesting that once the League says no, Virgil immediately turns to Batman for help. So. Virgil highly, highly respects Batman. I-I fail at these essays obviously.

4. Hotstreak - Virgil's RIVAL in battoru!!!111!!! I believe Virgil truly regretted Hotstreak's death(again, I'm unsure whether he survived or not. I'm....pretty sure he didn't, but hey what if there is canon retcon?). They would never, ever get along. Ever. But Virgil never hated Hotstreak. At least, not in the way he hates Brainiac or even perhaps Ebon.

5. Robert Hawkins  - I blame some of Virgil's feelings about his mom on his dad. Apparently his dad simply stopped mentioning her name in the household to the point it was almost taboo. But Virgil trusts his dad and his dad lets him go do superhero stuff with Richie. They know how to work things out and although Virgil never really confides in his dad, when it came down to it, Virgil knows his dad loves him and will make any sacrifice for his happiness. Hurt Virgil's dad and he will kill you. L-Like the way he thrammed Puff and Onyx.
I should expand on these later orz.

essaying, playing, oh canon, meme
