Christmas Carol of the Day, November 22 (Thanksgiving): "Over the River and Through the Woods"

Nov 22, 2007 21:47

Your Christmas Carol of the Day for Thanksgiving Day:

Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the river and through the woods
To grandmother's house we go
The horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
Through the white and drifting snow, oh!

Over the river and through the woods,
Oh how the wind does blow!
It stings the nose, and bites the toes,
As over the ground we go

Over the river and through the woods,
Trot fast, my dapple grey!
Spring over the ground, like a hunting hound!
For this is Thanksgiving Day, hey!

Over the river and through the woods,
Now grandmother's cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

Those of you who know this one may notice some missing verses and some changed lyrics. This is the way we always sang it on the way to my grandparents' house on Thanksgiving, though.

lyrics, christmas, christmas carols
