We are still trying to sell our house but have not manged it yet. However today we went to look at potential new home for us.It was my ideal thing, a 14th century, thatched cottage!
It was a good price too.
So we went in and discovered that it was built for Hobbits!
The main living room started off about 6ft high, then had a beam across the room which was just ok for me to walk under and then there was another only 4 ft high!
Ridiculous!
We walked up one of the sets of stairs to the bedrooms and they had high vaulted ceilings of about 16 ft high with beautiful arched wooden beams!
The doors were wonderfully old and made of odd shaped wood and the floors and walls were all sloping.
The staircase down was a horror. The well was only about 3 ft square and was like falling into a black hole with steps so narrow I could hardly fit my feet on them!
The garden was lovely with a big pond with ducks on it and the garden even had a proper wishing well in it and 2 hens to keep the grass short!
It was idyllic in lots of ways but we would all have developed claustrophobia in about a week. Seb could hardly stand downstairs at all!
Here is link so you can see it for yourselves. You cannot really tell the height in the photos though!
