threadless update.

Sep 18, 2009 16:38

Below the cut is the communication I've had so far with Threadless (re: my last post). I had to contact them through an online customer service form on their site, since apparently they don't have a CS phone number (wtf?).

Here's the message I included in my customer service form:

Hello,

I ordered a Twitter Tee by Threadless last week, and yesterday it was delivered via UPS to my apartment. Unfortunately I wasn't home for delivery, and the UPS person left the package at my door, and the package ended up being stolen. I know it was stolen because I later found the pouch in my building's stairwell, ripped open, shirt missing. I called UPS to complain and ask why the package was left at my door without a signature. UPS told me that normally in deliveries to apartments they do not leave packages at the door and instead leave a note, but in the case of this shipment, the sender (that would be you, aka "SkinnyCorp") had requested that the package be released and left at my residence if I was not there to sign.

Well thanks to that, my package was stolen, and I don't have my threadless tee that I ordered. It may only be a $9 shirt, but at this point I am a rather unsatisfied customer. I'm incredibly disappointed with this entire experience. I live in New York City, you can't just leave packages lying around on people's doorsteps around here!

I hope that you will be able to help me by sending me a replacement shirt (and ship it properly this time), or credit my account. I love threadless shirts and I am shocked that you would allow something like this to happen.

Sincerely,
sparkly_stuff

I just now noticed I never used the word "please." My mother would be disappoint.

This was the email I received from them (to be fair, they got back to me really fast)

Hello sparkly_stuff!

Sorry for any confusion! UPS provided incorrect information. We don't request UPS to leave packages without a signature, so we're sorry that you were provided misleading info. It wouldn't make any sense for us to ask UPS to leave packages behind and we hope you understand that is isn't something we would do. :)

Let us know a contact phone number for you and we'll file a claim with UPS. UPS requires a phone number for all claims and they may need to contact you for more information about the delivery or lack there of.

The claim can take up to 10 days while UPS investigates the delivery. Hopefully UPS will be able to locate your order and redeliver it during that time. However, in some cases, they aren't able to find anything and will reimburse for the lost shipment. As soon as the claim is completed and UPS contacts us, we will let you know what they are able to find.

Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for shopping at Twitter.Threadless.com!

My response:

DEAR CARLIE:

CAN YOU READ?!?!?!

My real response:

Hi Carlie,

Thanks for your quick reply. My phone number is ###-###-####.

I am sorry to hear that there was a miscommunication between your company and UPS. However, I can already tell you UPS will not be able to "locate" or "redeliver" my package, as they do not have it. I have the package, except that because it was left at my door when I wasn't there, the contents were stolen. I'm not sure what they will be able to do for me at this point, other than perhaps refund my shipping cost and/or value of the merchandise.

And this still leaves me without a shirt.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

...

When I spoke to UPS, they pretty much told me that because--according to their records-- SkinnyCorp [Threadless' parent company] had requested the package be left at the door, I need to take it up with Threadless and UPS can't be held liable. So sounds like either UPS fucked up and Threadless needs to fix this with them on my behalf, or someone at Threadless fucked up with the shipping of this order. Either way I JUST WANT MY SHIRT. :(

I don't even get why it was shipped UPS in the first place. Every other Threadless order I've gotten has been shipped through regular mail and it just goes straight in my (locked) mailbox. I didn't request any kind of special shipping.

Oh, and for the curious, this is the shirt. IT FITS MY LIFE SO PERFECTLY :')
