Day 1 Opening Ceremonies, Friday September 8th, 6:30am
Sam’s Club Parking Lot
Market Square Complex
335 North Milwaukee Ave
Vernon Hills Illinois 60061
The Route
The route will originate at the Market Square Complex in Vernon Hills and then travel south along the Des Plaines River on a crushed limestone trail that is cloaked in a canopy of fragrant flowering trees mixed with sunny prairie sections. Once off the trail, walkers will journey through historical and majestic downtowns of the northern suburbs of Chicago, and end their 22-mile day along village sidewalks.
Day Two is a 22-mile journey through Illinois’ famous north shore suburbs, coupled with a touch of characteristic urban Illinois. Walkers will experience romantic tree-lined trails that welcome overhead shade from the elements, a trail that loops around a body of water and then local sidewalks to experience the cheers and support of the local residents.
Day Three features City of Chicago trails and sidewalks for 16 miles. With its rural to urban flow, walkers can expect to experience a combined terrain of residential streets, bike paths, dirt paths, crushed limestone paths and lots of city sidewalks.

Spectator Note: Friends, family and supporters should arrive to the Closing Ceremonies site at least one hour early to get the best view of the program. To witness the final victory walk of the 3-Day is truly an experience worth the wait. All walkers and crew members will remain in the Participant Holding area where they will receive their victory shirt, cheer on their fellow walkers and crew members, and reflect on their experience before the dramatic silent victory walk into Closing Ceremonies. After the Closing Ceremonies, you can meet your loved ones at the Meet & Greet spot, under the flag with the first letter of the walkers last name.
