I have this love-hate thing about thunderstorms. And I love how the storm cuts the humidity in the air and leaves everything smelling fresh, but I hate that storms at night keep me awake with their loud and their bright flashes of lightning. I love the energy in the air during storms, but I'm petrified of being struck by lightning. :| Sometimes I run around barefoot during summer thundershowers, but that's only after I'm done being a wuss about the lightning. [When I was a kid I'd hide under the table during storms.]
I'm near Augusta, Maine. We got hit by that orangey-red band of storm [as did the rest of the ENTIRE STATE, OMG, and the state of Maine isn't small], and this time the Kennebec River didn't stop it -- which it sometimes does with smaller rainstorms. Midwesterners on my flist might be scoffing, but in Maine we don't do extreme weather. The last tornado to hit my town happened in the 1970s.
