Day 2 of unfinished fanfiction liberation week is dedicated to those stories that just never really got off the ground after the first sentence/paragraph.
We've all written them. Here are some of mine.
1. 'Historical' epic in which people are studying Harry -- and Draco by default -- many decades into the future:
And as the Dark Lord drew his wand, an armored Thestral swooped down from the sky and landed, rearing, before him. "You'll not have him!" shouted the Chosen One.
2. Post-Phoenix dark!Harry:
Nobody talked to Harry Potter anymore. After he'd spent all summer locked in first his bedroom at the Dursleys and then at Grimmauld Place, reading dark books and planning revenge, even Ron and Hermione were careful what they said around him.
3. Attempt #389298237495 of writing a Severitus fic:
Perhaps this is not the best time to inform you, but I've wondered if you might know already. It was not my decision to keep this from you at all, and would it have been my choice alone, you would've known years ago, but there were other things at stake that I could not throw out of balance.
4. Draco's parents are dead, but still funny:
As the sole remaining heir of the House of Malfoy, the letter began, it behooves you, Draco Maurice Horatio Aloysius Steven Malfoy, to pass on the noble bloodline of those who begat you.
Draco sighed. His father had always enjoyed writing in fancy terms what could've been summed up with far less ink; for example, his middle names, when a simple Albert would've sufficed. He'd always liked the name Albert, and as a result, all of his childhood pets had received the name. When Albert XIV, a female hedgehog, had been eaten by one of the plants in Father's hothouse the summer before his first year at Hogwarts, he'd decided that perhaps he should choose a different name for his next pet.
He'd switched to Albertine.
This, naturally, means that you must marry and produce an heir, or you shall witness the end of the Malfoy line. And, Draco, despite your inclinations, I must encourage you to select a woman -- this was underlined three times -- of pure breeding, in the hopes that your child will be -- there was a large smudge on the paper here, as if the vanishing charm hadn't quite worked on the ink. After the smudge, the letter continued. Draco, dear, ignore your father. You do whatever your heart desires -- just don't spend the entire family fortune in one place. I find it a shame that I'll never meet any grandchildren. And darling, please remember to water the azaleas.
