Okay, 2¢ time.

This is the one and only post I'm going to make about the current stuff going down in Supernatural fandom. I'm going to try to be as brief and as vague as possible, here, to avoid any potentially triggery language.

I know I'm not active in Supernatural fandom anymore, and haven't been for some time. But I'm still on the periphery, and what I've been seeing the last few days horrifies me. As a rational, not-crazy human person capable of normal human feelings, let me just say that it makes me feel terrible that this whole Wincon debacle is causing a lot of people in fandom to have to relive traumatic events from their pasts. It makes me feel worse that these people are basically being forced to come out to fandom, as it were, about these events. And all for what? Some drama queen who's never going to back down, who's spewing hate and ignorance left and right because she feels she's been wronged by the world.

I just -- where does it end? If you start with the initial

1. Someone came forth anonymously and said that I victimized persons X, Y, and Z! If I don't hear their names, HEADS WILL ROLL! and continue to

2. Well, obviously, nothing happened, because if had, they'd have gone to the authorities and then move on to

3. I'm sorry something happened to YOU, but that's YOU, and it's way worse than whatever allegedly took place...

Where does it end? Where do we, as fandom and as a society, draw the line? And why are degrees of right and wrong being applied to this situation? Can't we all just agree that there are buckets of wrong all over the place right now? How do we prevent another scenario like this one from taking place in the future?

I applaud the efforts people have been making to be rational about this giant, tragic mess. For those of you who've been negatively affected by it, I'll say this: I'm sorry. Because we can probably expect that apologies won't be coming from the people who really need to make them.

idiot box: supernatural, want: do not, what is this fuckery?!, save the drama for your llama, oh dear god no
