HOMG, MERLIN.
I'm capping the episode right now, but can't contain my glee. There was SO MUCH GOOD STUFF in today's Merlin that I don't think it's humanly possible to enumerate it all. ♥♥♥ SO MUCH LOVE, LITTLE SHOW. SO MUCH LOVE.
This was one of those episodes that really showcased Tony Head's acting ability. Good God, man. He had me scowling at my monitor when he was being a complete [ensorcelled] douche, cackling when he was fawning over Catrina in troll form, and damn near close to tears as he knelt over Arthur's body. Speaking of Arthur's body, where my shirtless scenes at? I just... Uther loves his boy so much, even when he's half-possessed by evil troll magic, and I can't think of a better actor to portray that. ♥
Although Merlin/Arthur is where my little heart belongs, I kinda dig the Gwen/Arthur scenes. It's still gonna suck when she breaks his heart, but for now, she's really good for him. Sets his head straight, which he needs.
I had my second "pause the episode so I can fall out of my chair laughing so hard that I start to hyperventilate" moment this season [the first was Gwen's belated "my lord" after she was done chewing Arthur out] when Uther tumbled troll!Catrina into bed.
Gotta say, when Catrina tossed Arthur across the room and he smacked against that wall, I was like OHSHIT, SHE KILLED HIM 4 REALZ. And then he made a miraculous, irrationally spry recovery, flipping swords and stabbing people all willy-nilly. GO ARTHUR GO. *waves pom-poms*
And then the ALMOST HUG. THE HUG THAT NEVER WAS. BEST FOLLOW-THROUGH EVER. Merlin and Arthur should be on a synchronized awkward team, because their arms TOTALLY drooped back down at the same time. ♥ And YOU KNOW ARTHUR SECRETLY WANTED THAT HUG.
