It should be relatively clear that I not-so-secretly adore Jane Austen stories, particularly Pride and Prejudice. So you can imagine how much glee I was filled with when I saw that not only was Oxygen playing the 2005 movie version, but Ovation had Lost in Austen going on all this weekend. TV networks for the win, people.
I'd never seen Lost in Austen before, but I was all excited. So excited, in fact, that I downloaded the series rather than wait for the rest to air. :| A modern girl going through some weird portal between real and literary worlds? Awesomesauce, yo. And I love the writers' take on the different characters in Pride and Prejudice. Wickham as a misunderstood, decent guy? Georgiana as a teenage slutbag? Caroline as a lesbian, and Charles as a drunk? Collins as a crotch-grabbing, finger-sniffing pervert?! Count me in. Predictably, Darcy was the only character who remained, well... Darcy.
I enjoyed Amanda, even though she sorta pinged my Suedar, and Mr. Bennet was absolutely delightful. Overall, totally fun miniseries. I totally wished I were Amanda. Whee, Austen!
