On Vox: Tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999.
Ten years ago today I was at a party that changed my life, which is to say the first real kind of grown-up party I had ever been to. I was playing in a band, and all the other band members were so much cooler than me and so much more talented than me. I felt so happy and so out of place. It was ridiculously painful, exhilarating, intimidating, stressful and perfect. Part of that is being 16, I guess. The next four months were also ridiculously painful, exhilarating, intimidating, stressful and perfect. Ah, nostalgia.
Anyway, I'm flying home to New Mexico for the next ten days or so. Here's hoping this trip is a bit more restful and happy than the last one. I hope you all have a great start to the new year and stay safe and have insanely spectacular moments somewhere along the way.
