ok, there are some serious problems with this list. i found the actual list at Film Threat and there are issues.

first. they say that this is an annual list, so why are they referencing some carreers from 03 and 02? if this is annual, it should have to do with people who have fallen this year.

second. they still don't seem to be accurate. as far as michael moore, nicole kidman, and ben affleck go, if no one cares, then why do we all pay attention?

of course moore isn't going to be as outspoken now, after he was out doing publicity and such for so long. he's angry and we probably don't want to see him now anyway. he did however make the highest grossing documentary to date. he's even said before that he doesn't care about profits from his projects like that, and we were all free to download it. so why'd y'all pay to see it? (and i do not mean anyone in particular, so please don't start with the 'i didn't see it' or 'i didn't pay' posts.) there is obviously something about him that isn't
cold, so why put him on the list. or at least, why number one. i could possibly understand putting him down further with a comment about his hiding after the election, but even that is silly.

halle berry. so she's made two bad movies. hmm seems to me like people still went to see gothika. so if you're going to comment that she's lost her draw because not so any people went to see catwoman, that's another story, but no the point that they are making is not that. also, do not completely ignore that she did X-2 after the oscar too, and though i know it's not the most artistic film it did quite well. not many sequels make more money than the original.

michael eisner. um, wouldn't we have had to be paying attention to him specifically to care that he lost his power? just because we watch what disney is doing doesn't mean that we all think of eisner when we think disney.

m. night shyamalan. hmm, we all seem to know that there is going to be some big twist ending, and many of us seem to be able to prdict it. yet we all still pay to go see it. if we really didn't care, we wouldn't go right?

ben stiller/owen wilson. first off, these two don't even get to be their own people? they don't work together on everything. i love how they are totally forgetting how much everyone is anticipating meet the fockers. i mean, if he's really so cold, no one would care! also, yes people take movies that aren't the greatest to pad the bank account. sometimes it's because they haven't finished their contract with a studio, sometimes it's them thinking that it's going to be better than it is. either way, ignore those movies and pay attention to the fact that even if starsky and hutch wasn't the greatest, it still drew people to the theatre. there is and audience out there for that type of humor.

all of the above can be found here

and then the rest...

nicole kidman. ok, this one, i feel like they kind of have a point. i'd love to be able to prove them wrong on each point that they're making, but the way that they argued nicole is right. i do still think that she has more pull than they are giving her credit for, but their point is at least right. i think that she would do well to get back to something more like moulin rouge or something just as fun. it's great that she wants to tell these stories with messages and all, but she often doesn't look the part. i do have to say though, that they dock her for cold mountain, and i think she was actually very decent in that, and that was why i considered seeing the stepford wives.

reese witherspoon. really people? reese? i know that it may be a personal thing, but reese can do no wrong. so maybe legally blonde 2 wasn't quite up to par, but it was true to the spirit of elle woods. and vanity fair. i have to admit that i have not gotten to see it yet, but from what i hear, it was good, it's just that it isn't the typical reese witherspoon movie. she's got 5 movies in the works though. well, two in the works, three announced. and i'm sure that they will be totally worthy of reese.

jimmy fallon. ok, he doesn't have enough of a carreer away from snl yet to even really gauge anything. he's got one film out since then and that's really not enough to make him either hot or cold.

paris hilton. ok, while i can't stand the girl, i also can't argue that she is no where near frigid. yes, i agree that she should not do the whole movie thing, but why wouldn't she? we all know that there are people who are going to go see it just to see how she is in it. and then there are the people who actually like her. obviously they will go to see it as well. she's got her fans and she's got her haters and they all pay attention to anything she does. if that's not hot, i don't know what is.

ben affleck. ok this one, i have to say is dead on. he's had an awful year. it will take a long break and an absolute miracle of a movie to get him out of this. i do think that i would like surviving christmas, but i think the fact that i (along with most of the country) didn't see it says something. this one i think, is more of the media's doing though. had we not had so much of the bennifer coverage, we may have been able to overlook gigli and actually look a jersey girl without thinking about that craziness. who knows, liv is awesome, jersey girl might have had something.

ok, so that was their supposed top ten. i'm going through the rest of the list and there are a few that i agree with. many though, have not had enough hollywood pull in the last few years to even get a spot on the list.

i agree with...
14. Heath Ledger. (i HATE to admit it, but honey you need to find something that works for you better.)
20. Ashton Kutcher (where did he go?)
22. HIllary Duff (finally people are letting this one die a little.)
32. Adrien Brody (i want him to do better stuff though.)
33. Alec Baldwin
34. Sharon Stone
35. Tom Hanks. (as much as i love him, you have to look at the facts. the ladykillers, the terminal, and the polar express will just be a little too much tom.)
37. Vin Diesel.
40. Jennifer Lopez. (even the marc anthony thing is dying.)

those that would have been better on the list a year or two ago...
11. Stephen Baldwin
15. Ashley Judd
16. Keenen Ivory Wayans
19. Morgan Freeman
21. Spike Lee
25. Meg Ryan.
42. John Travolta.
50. Johnny Knoxville.

Those who i think are still at least a little hot... (note, that does not mean that i necessarily like them, but i do realize that other people care about what they do.)
12. Lindsay Lohan
18. Queen Latifah
27. Robert DeNiro
29. The Olsen Twins
36. Tim Burton
42. George W. Bush (after all, he was re-elected, right?)
47. Catherine Zeta-Jones
49. Jennifer Aniston (ever heard of taking a break people, she just finished a 10 year sitcom!)

Those that either don't have enough notariety to have ever been on a hot list, or who just don't make sense on there!...
13. Will Smith
17. Colin Farrell's Penis (really people?)
23. Jon Voight
24. Paul W.S. Anderson
30. Dennis Quaid
31. Lauren Bacall
38. Stephen Sommers
39. Thomas Jane
45. Keira Knightly & Natalie Portman (that was how long ago people?)
46. Uwe Boll (who?)

(some people will never lose their power)...
26. James Bond
28. Dame Judi Dench
41. George Lucas
44. Mel Gibson
48. Al Pacino

ok, so wow. that was a lot. any comments?
