What was your most memorable vacation, and why?
That would be a toss between my honeymoon and my trip to TN in 2003.
I'll revisit both.
In 2003, I wanted to take Josh to see my family, and to see where I grew up. It was a wonderful week in the Tennessee mountains, with my - then boyfriend- Josh. We stayed a night at my grandparent's house in North Carolina and then continued on to Tennessee the next day. We stayed with some friends of the family that weren't quite so judgmental of us sleeping together. We got to meet alot of the people that have been important in my life, got to visit with my Granny (who still wants to teach my husband how to mow the grass), the lady who babysat me and my sister most of our childhoods, my best friend and many others. I showed him my high school and we drove around town for hours. We spent a whole day in the mountains, and drove up to the top of mountain overlooking Shady Valley. We went up to the Holston Valley Damm and really just enjoyed each others company. We spent time talking about our future, and soaking up the July sunshine.
The second half of the week, we went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We spent half a day at Dollywood, but Josh thought it was boring. We went to Gatlinburg and spent time walking up and down the road and looking at the shoppes. The last day, we went to Hillbilly Golf, a putt-putt place built on the side of the mountain, and had a round of golf with my best friend. Then we started our trip back to Orlando. It was a good time to get to know each other, and alot of fun. I also got to spend some much needed time with my family and loved ones. It was truly very valuable to me.
Our Honeymoon was October 22-29 2005.
After our wonderful wedding, we wisked away to a hotel by the airport, Crowne Plaza. The night was rather uneventful, but Josh had put ALOT of effort into the evening. From champagne, to rose petals, to a CD playing love songs. It was very romantic. However... we were both so tired that we feel straight asleep! After all, we had to be up before the crack of dawn to get on a plane. We were headed to Miami, then onto Ocho Rios Jamaica! We went to Couples Resort in Ocho Rios. It was a beautiful place! There was a nearly 3 hour bus ride to get to the hotel.. note to self... take dramamine next time!!
It was an all inclusive resort, it fostered wonderful romance and a very intimate time. There were several activities, however most of our time was spent on the beach, or in the room (I spent half the time very very sick). Often times you could find us reading Harry Potter to each other and ordering drinks. We did go out to the "Au Natural" Island one day... which was quite an adventure. We also spent a day shopping. We learned a very valuable lesson that day.. infact, a few of them.. 1) Don't carry 300 in large bills to a craft fair.. they will take it all!!! 2) When they say do you smoke.. they do not mean ciggarettes and 3) DO NOT DRIVE IN JAMAICA.. they are nuts and will kill you!!! We had a very nice trip.
Jamaica is where I decided I would be having weightloss surgery. Best decision I ever made.. other than marrying my hubby.. :)
writer's block,
memorable vacation
