So, it was all go last week. On Friday night Breezer and I saw the
Kylie concert in London which was truly amazing. We had standing tickets, which meant there was a little compromise on our view of the lower stage (our own fault for not getting there early enough to rush straight to the best spot), but which also meant that we were right at the barrier on the upper left-hand side, practically within touching distance of Ms Minogue and her dancers whenever they moved down the walkway!
Yes, I am a 12 year old girl. Breezer is too though, she kept turning to me and saying, "it's Kylie, she's right there!" The costumes were amazingly sparkly, the props were absurd (where can I get an 8ft golden Pegasus, I wonder...), the dancers and acrobats incredible, and the creepy sea-monster twist to the song "In My Arms" was possibly my favourite moment. It was such an extravaganza, I feel like I'm still processing it. I can't wait for the DVD. My only regret is in not begging/borrowing/stealing in order to get a splash zone ticket. It must have been such an amazing experience in there.
I got to wear my
Dark Steel corset again and Breezer wore her deep red corset with sparkly ruby red leather gussets. I don't like photos of myself, so you don't get to see! The show was utterly amazing though, and though everyone says it I will say it myself too: Kylie really is beautiful and tiny. Saturday was spent just relaxing in the sunshine on South Bank. I introduced Breezer to
Coco de Mer (a beautiful, naughty, little shop) and then traveled home.
Another gorgeous petite person (the stunning
Ivory Flame) has a couple of our images on show in a
Sparklewren interview as part of the
corsetmaker interviews that
FairyGothMother recently conducted. I think they make pretty good reading. It's nice to hear others' thoughts, and to know that they all love what they do. It's always nice to get feedback too. I am very bad at judging what my "audience" are interested in or what corset-wearers like in general, so I tend not to think about it. If you worry too much about how your work will be received, you end up making nothing interesting (in my experience). Instead, I just explore the things I consider to be beautiful and hope other's agree. So I was very pleased that Sam (the owner at FGM) chose two of my favourite images to accompany the article.
In other news, I've finally finished up my series of
articles on the "Hearts" corset (
Part 5 is up now) plus a spin-off article that will follow. I'm in two minds about the Hearts corset outcome (though the process was hugely informative) and so the spin-off was a kind of cathartic process of shaking it off. If you subscribe to
FR you'll soon see what I'm talking about ;-)
Also, FR wins points this month for
Mark Garbarczyk's Bullet Bra article. Perhaps it's finally time to make myself that bullet bra I was dreaming about?! Though I did mean to take a week off at some point this month, so I shouldn't really be giving myself new personal projects... Hmm, we'll see...
This blog post is link-tastic.
Anyway, best get on. Working on a client's toile, then must get on with a friend's birthday corset in "petrol" satin. Scrumptious!
