Yesterday was my birthday
...
...and thanks to my wonderful mother I will soon be receiving a twin needle industrial machine (joint birthday/Christmas gift). Not the post or cylinder arm we were searching for, as it seems downright impossible to find those machines within the low budget we had. But I am still *very* excited about this and very thankful for it. It takes a lot of googling, sitting on your hands, counting the pennies, and patiently waiting before finding the right piece of equipment at the right price.
I also managed to find myself a full body hanging mannequin on ebay for a great price, so that was my birthday present to myself. I thought, "would I rather have an evening out or the mannequin?". And, as normal, the work related option won. I'm a hermit, but I'm making good work as a result ;-)
She's pretty much a standard UK12 (just slightly slimmer hips) which will work fine for my purposes. I'm very excited for her arrival so that I can break out some tape and play around with more corset body designs (pre-cinch, of course).
We're lucky to have quite a lot of room at home, but even so... with these new pieces of kit coming soon (all things being well with the weather) I really need to clear out some other stuff. So I'm selling some of my old machines on ebay, and giving away a couple on freegle. Assuming anyone can actually travel to collect them! The snow is pretty incredible here and driving conditions are bad. I have an appointment booked with a client tomorrow, but whether she'll be able to make it I'm not sure. Earlier today I was digging my boyfriend's car out of the snow and got drenched by the sprayed up slush from a passing vehicle. Urg. It is beautiful off the roads though, clean fluffy sparkly snow... If it continues snowing, I think the bench in our back yard will be buried soon!
I'm also re-listing some of my sample corsets, having taken down the exhibition in Allendale and in a bid to make more room. Just in time for Christmas, a
burgundy cincher, peach
overbust, and purple
underbust :-)
In other weather-related news, the theatre where I worked not so long ago were meant to open the pantomime tonight but it's been cancelled. I can remember all too well what that's like... They'll have sold every seat in the house, have loads of angry customers needing refunds, others that are totally unreachable, some that demand exchanging to a different (sold out) date, one or two who are genuinely gracious about the situation, and everything in between. Please be kind to customer service workers when these things happen, they really are trying their best!
