My parents are awesome.. For once, they decided to leave Arvada and come have dinner with me in my neighborhood tonight. So we went to Mezcal for dinner and a few drinks, since it's only like 10 blocks from me, and then - at my stepdad's request - we went to a bar. My mom says "what's this Sputnik place you always talk about.. sounds like you live there." Seeing as though I'm there 2-3 times a week, that's not too far off. So we went from Mezcal down to Sputnik. Where my mom got DRUNK off of peach vodka and cranberry juice. Now I know for sure where I get it.. man, it was funny. Both my mom and my stepdad were saying they used to go there when it was 7 South years ago, so they thought it was fun I "inherited" the place (as my stepdaddy said). At one point, they both went to the bathroom, and Bill comes up to me to ask if they're my parents. I say yes, and he couldn't get over how much I look like my mom. Which is true.. except I'm about 3 inches taller than her. He also had a hard time believing that my mom is 47. I still couldn't believe that they went there to drink with me. I don't think most of my friends' parents would do that. Then - in true fashion while drinking together - my mom, my stepdad, and I got into a conversation over whether or not the nature vs. nuture theory is more prevalent in raising children. Using me as their example. Greg has been my parent since I've been 7, and I'm more like him personality wise than my mom, though it's incredibly clear that we share the same physical features and temperament. I'm just glad that I get along with them as well as I do. I love these stories of outings like this that most people can't believe. ;)
Oh yeah - and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club last night at the Gothic was AMAZING. That was my 4th or 5th time seeing them, and I think it was my favorite time yet. Plus it never hurts when your rockstar crush is like 4 feet from you.. haha.. but still, a good time was had by all.
