Farewell, 2010
Oh hai, LJ! Fancy meeting you here...
I've seen a few of these memes flying around, and I remember filling the same one out a few years ago (for 2007, I think...?), so I figured, hey, why not :3! 2010 certainly is deserving of a good sendoff (aka: good riddance!! :p)
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
I traveled to an out of state convention, all by myself, no less!
2 Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My resolutions are almost always the same; to lose weight and/or stop biting my nails. In this, case, I actually accomplished both! I lost 25lbs earlier this year; I had gotten pretty chunky ;_; ... I've gained back 5 of it, but I'm working on that. I never thought I'd see the day I stopped nail biting, though!! I still pick at them more than I should, but I've actually gotten my nails to grow past my fingertips, which I've NEVER been able to do before :3
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Whew, nope.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.... but one day. ;__;
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A FREAKING DEGREE, OMG. One more class left... if they still tell me I can't have it after that, I'm gonna lose it.
7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Hm. Normally for a question like this a very specific date would pop into my head but I got.... nuthin. I guess 2010 was just that eventful.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
lol... hm. Looking back, I think it was a pretty fail year for me. A lot of the things I wanted to accomplish didn't pull through. I did lose weight though, so I guess I'll go with that ^^;. Oh, and killing the Lich King. \o/
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being very money wise... =__=;. Granted, poor Mike was unemployed for a few months earlier this year, so that didn't help. We had been really good about staying out of debt, but with trying to take care of a mortgage on a single income, that went out the door pretty fast. I have a feeling we'll be playing catch up for a while = /
10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
Thank God, no.
11.What was the best thing you bought?
Cataclysm Collectors Edition... x3
12.Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mike <3. Always Mike. Even when he was unemployed at the beginning of the year, he remained motivated. He worked side jobs with his dad until he landed his job at Nordstrom in April, at which he has already received TWO promotions. He also started taking classes at University of Phoenix so he can finally have an advanced business degree. Between work, his ridiculously long commute, and his classes the guy hardly has time to sleep... but he's got goals, and he's going for it. So proud of my bee... and so glad at least one of us is motivated to do something with their life, heh >.>;
13.Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
JEN :p!! Lol, just kidding. That girl knows how to find trouble though! I woulnd't say it's as appalling/depressing as it is just stressful to worry about her, haha. (love you foof, everything's gonna be okay <3)
14.Where did most of your money go?
I wonder that all the time!! Seems like there's never any, haha. But seriously.... the mortgage.
15.What did you get really, really, really excited about?
World Cosplay Summit prelims.... man, I wanted it bad. Still do... ^^;

17.Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Probably happier. This time last year, Mike had just quit his job after being held up at gun point; he was really depressed, and of course that rubbed off on me. I was worried about his mental well being as well as our financial state. I'm still worried about our finances now, but at least Mike is working now and there aren't guns there ^^;.
18.What do you wish you'd done more of?
Saving Money / Paying off debt

Worrying... ;^;
20.How did you spend Christmas?
With family =). My mom was working that night (she works night shifts at the children's hospital), so we had our gettogether later in the afternoon so she could sleep waaaay in. So of course I got to sleep waaaaaay in... that was glorious *__*. We spent the first half of the afternoon with my fam, and then went over to Mike's parent's house in the evening. Overall a fun, relaxing day!
21. How will you spend New Years?
Playing D&D with Mike, and his sister and bro-in-law! And hopefully there will be alcohol involved, haha! xD
22.Did you fall in love in 2010?
Nupe, just been in love =)
23.How many one-night stands?

24.What was your favorite TV program?
America's Next Top Model!
25.Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not really, I'm not into hatin'!

Read? Yeah, I don't do that. I think the only book I actually read this year was the World of Warcraft prelude to Cataclym, The Shattering ^^;. I'm so uncultured, lol.
27.What was your greatest musical discovery?
Marina and the Diamonds! I don't know how I hadn't heard about these girls, they're fabulous!! And the songs are so catchy :D
28.What did you want and get?
A trip to Otakon! Such an amazing weekend, thank you, ACParadise <3
29.What did you want and not get?
Not gonna lie... I really wanted WCS ^^;.
30.What was your favorite film of this year?
I feel like I should say HP7.... but really? Inception.
31.What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 25 this year.... omg, I'm ancient. Jen and I dragged Mike out to the fashion district in LA, and then we went out for sushi with family. Mmmmm, sushi. <3
32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If Jen and I had won the WCS prelim... would have been a truly amazing and one-of-a-kind experience.
33.How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
I'm trying to dress nicer/cuter; I've actually gone out and purchased purposefully *fashionable* items, like skinny jeans, leggings, trendy jackets, and boots. Also with my new red hair, I feel a little... edgier, I guess. I think Mike working at Nordstrom has made me much more fashion concious... still have an embarrassing number of WoW shirts that I pull out from time to time, though x3
34.What kept you sane?
HA HA HA HA HA.... ha... heh.... oh. Probably WoW. /sad
35.Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
GAGA. *___*
36.What political issue stirred you the most?
Not terribly into politics, but I don't think anyone living in CA wasn't effected by the whole gay marriage debate at one point or another.... some people's complete intolerance is simply disgusting = /. I consider myself a Christian, but seeing how other supposed "Christians" stand so fervently and hatefully against gays... it makes me sick. It's enough to make me question my faith at times.
37.Who did you miss?
Eric ; 3;! He had been renting a room from me and Mike, but he moved up to San Fran earlier this year. Especially when Cataclysm came out this month, Mike and I have spent lots of time reminiscing about Wrath's release and how we would chain-run heroics with Eric for hooooooours... awww, good times.
38.Who was the best new person you met?
This one is easy <3. Mandi! We met at Otakon and somehow we just hit it off. I'm a shy person and it usually takes me a while to warm up to people, but Mandi reached out to me anyways, took me under her wing and became my boyfreindo for the weekend <3. I can't wait to see her again at Fanime!! :D
39.Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
Sometimes, wanting something really bad and working your ass off for it just isn't enough; sometimes you just gotta get lucky. But no matter what, never give up.

Summary of 2010: Overall, kind of a sucky year, but the highlights were SUPER AWESOME so that sorta made up for the overall suck factor, lol. Of course the highlights all involved my friends; visiting Eric in San Fran, meeting old and new friends at conventions, and even some of my online adventures with friends in WoW... ^^;. I watched a lot of people close to me go through tough times this past year, and even though it wasn't directly happening to me, I'm an extremely empathetic person so it effects me a lot. But I've also gotten to watch them pull out of the dark and head towards greater things so... here's to hoping 2011 will be a better time for everybody. <3
