I failed to find a Ticketmaster outlet so that I could pick up my dad's birthday present to send to him. I saw a mouse in my flat. My computer is dieing... I had a flat tire... and a flat spare...
I would have still walked to my polling place if I had to. I like voting. I like exercising my democratic right. I like being one with everyone who has ever voted before and I like being a part of what will make history in the future.
We won.
I did, in fact, tear up a bit at the his speech.
I was nearly as surprised when my mom called me from Ohio with reports of 'it looks good.' I hadn't known she was voting for him. I can now admit to being an Ohioan again.
I am upset at some of the local issues that were lost... Prop 8 anyone? But... This is a step. A huge one. We can change this. We can.
That said, let's celebrate, not be bitchy and gloating. We need to work at this, he said it's going to be a long hard road, and that couldn't be more true. But we can do this.
Remember this feeling.
