I heard they were trying to tone down the religious overtones for the movie, did you find that to be the case? Though I suppose that doesn't really come into play so much for the first book.

Well, because I am of the opinion that the first book was not wrought with religious philosophy, I thought that the movie did not focus on it, naturally. there is this one scene in which mrs. coulter is explaining dust to Lyra, and I think its the first and only indication of religious undertones.

besides all that, it was brilliant. you should go see it asap. I wanted to cry so many times simply because it was so amazing. They did the book so much justice, it's ridiculous.

yes I certainly did! They had a special showing all around the nation at 7 on Saturday.
