Look! we've had at least several days since my last grad school post, so I figured it was time for another one.
Just a nice little update/recap of where things stand.
I'm going to be poor, poor, poor no matter what I decide in the end, and that is sad.
But here's the dealie-o:

Denver:
The dumbass administrative shuffle has finally ended, and the correct program got my application TODAY. They promised a decision within a few days, BUT of course, they've already allocated all their financial aid. sucks. I found proof I wrote them back in DECEMBER in fact, with a reply from their grad coordinator (in writing!) that my file would be updated no problem. I should have checked on this months ago. So even if they take me the possibility is probably pretty slim I'd take it. Although, it would probably be cheaper, and I could potentially do it in a year. Eh. Not too sure I'm feeling it.

San Diego:
I couldn't care less at this point. I decided to drop the extra $30 for the Aussie transcript, (who knows who else might want it down the road) but I don't even care. They only give you money if you teach like a million courses. I am SO not ready for that. I also hate their administrative hellish red tape guts. I can't help it. They really gave me the fuck all run around. It's not worth it. I do want to get their whole info package though, and just peruse it for kicks and maybe comparison sake, and then say NO.

Chicago:
Still in the running. I have submitted my financial aid application to them today. I also need to call to make sure I can't finagle any aid out of them, maybe by suggesting to them I really am a citizen. Honest. Will be visiting there on April 5th. I've also reserved a room at the International House dorm. $50/night, but hey, the location is quite convenient, being on campus and all. I haven't heard back from my playa pals regarding space, I should check on that too.
The big shocker I stumbled upon this weekend is the fact that their school year runs from Sept. to June. Sept 19th is when they've scheduled the graduate students orientation. Yes. You may know what that means. And it's very very mean for even suggesting the possibility to me....If I had extra funds, I could totally go to BurningMan. So effin' tempting! Oh goodness....

Georgetown:
Starting to look more and more like the surefire winner, although it will definitely be the priciest of all. Big surprise huh? I can't help it. The program is wonderful, the staff is too, they have been prompt and friendly and all that. I think they will have the most productive opportunities for me as well. Every nonprofit/agency on earth has an office in DC. I mean, as much as I hate being so close to the belly of the beast, it has its major advantages.

I would have liked to have gotten something worthwhile further out west, but I guess it's just not meant to be...
Anyways, nothing is as of yet set in stone or decided. At all.
:)
Sushi with Whitney in one hour. yay.
