It's been a while since I had the chance to write more . . . so much for my goal. My locket was stolen. Found an odd bar, clearly run by a powerful spark, apparently non-hostile. Not certain how to describe it. Milliways is . . . Milliways. I returned, apparently without any time having passed, and made it to the lab. Late again, drat it.
I tested my clank for Prof. Glassvitch, and it at least moved before blowing up. Dr. Merlot came in shortly after to tell me the Baron was arriving shortly and I had half an hour to clean the lab before he arrived. The storage closet was the fastest way to deal with the clutter. When I opened it with the first load, however, I found myself in Milliways again.
I stored most of it in my room, dropping off a few items to aid a local spark in his experiments and hanging on to Cassius so he wouldn't be left alone. A nice girl named Buffy offered to take care of him for me, but I declined. Then an odd thing happened -- he and his bowl split in two, creating another bowl and fish identical to the first.
Later . . . well, I'd rather not talk about that.
Managed to get back from Milliways with Cassius and Dr. Strout's cactus, though I left most of the other items I was carrying behind in my room . . . I doubt they'll be needed in the immediate future, but hopefully I can get back to retrieve them if needed. One of the rat servers offered me something for my headache before I left. Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as my usual headaches, and whatever it was cleared out the pain immediately. The storage closet was a closet again as soon as I returned, and I managed to get everything packed away before the Baron arrived. Unfortunately, the Baron's son decided to open the door. Luckily for all concerned, he survived without injury, and even caught Cassius. Then Dr. Merlot revealed the hive engine . . . the Baron was furious with Dr. Beetle, but agreed not to kill him. Then everything seemed to happen at once. [there are tear splotches on the page, obscuring some lines]and Doctor Beetle's dead. Dr. Merlot expelled me from the school and the Baron sent me back to the shop with a Jager. Adam and Lilith were comforting, but they seemed overly concerned with my locket being missing, after everything that had happened. I decided to get some rest, and though I can't explain it, I woke up the next morning in the shop, covered in grease.
The next bit is a blur (likely has something to do with the C-gas they mentioned) but I came to on the Castle Wulfenbach, still in my pajamas. What's-his-name, one of the ones who robbed me was there, and he said he wouldn't return my locket until he managed to get away safely. The Baron assumes that we're - gah! - an item, and I need to play along. And he ate my breakfast. I hate him.
I met Slepnir O'Hara, who appears to be my roommate. Fortunately, she's quite nice. She showed me the way to the showers and provided me with a change of clothing. I'm still getting used to the pants, but she assures me they're quite practical.
I should wrap this up, as the others are heading off to prepare lunch.
