I need to believe it is possible that my life can make some kind of appreciable difference in the world around me, if I believe this is true then it becomes true, if I believe the converse my belief will manifest in reality. I want to bring people together into some kind of inclusive organization that gives them the power to rise together and make their voices heard, I want to show people how strong we are when we become strands in a braid. I do not want to lead, I want to help people really lead their own lives, to actually pursue what inspires them. I believe there's an alternative to spending half our waking lives as slaves to our debts and possessions. I want to write a story, I want to make my voice heard. I want to love a woman and raise a family and love my children and my neighbors, I want to leave things better than I found them, I want all the children of this planet to wake up on a better earth tomorrow, it is simply not enough for us to just care about our own, we need to care about each other, each and every one. "If all life is one, than all violence is masochism." We need to realize that real heroism is in the small actions and the big ones, picking up someone's dropped belongings, giving someone a ride who needs one, smiling at someone instead of staring at them blindly indifferent. If you total a lifetime of showing compassion and love in small and seemingly insignificant ways you might begin to realize that a life led with more attention and better intention has a greater impact than we can imagine. Be my hero, I dare you.
