w27phantom and I went up into the Cohuttas yesterday to look for TREZ (The Real Empathy Zone). After about 30 minutes of searching, I finally found it. It was well hidden and in good condition (I wrote that in case Johnny is reading). But we decided that as a result of the recent rains and the fact that I just did a cache near that spot earlier in the week and knew what would be required, we decided to postpone going any further until weather improved. We really didn't want to get too far from the vehicle in case it started raining...it was just a little too chilly to be out in the rain.
The Cohuttas were awesome. The clouds were moving across the mountains and it was like driving in a thick fog. For all we knew, it was raining below us, but we were enjoying the ride.
I also stopped by the first stage of Starhopping III, yesterday. When I re-placed the stage, I had accidentally left something at the cache site and wanted to go back and get it.
I also had a chance to talk to Whittling Fisher a little yesterday. Our special little project is well under way. I won't give too many details, but to those who follow this blog, be looking for a new series of caches in this area. The first one is in the design stage and the next step is to make a model. The name of this cache will be "MacGyver Fannin" or "MacGyver Gilmer" when we get it out. I'm sure readers can guess what the goal of this series of caches will be. Don't worry, I learned my lesson. They won't be hard to get to, just hard to get at.
