Vagabond Lane is a film that we filmed in the summer of 2006 here in Idaho. Editing of the movie was completed this year and we are now looking to enter the film into festivals.
Equal parts fantasy, coming of age story, and Christian allegory, Vagabond Lane tells the story of Carrie, a teenage girl on the run from her abusive step-father. Along the way she meets Joe, who introduces her to the magical Vagabond Lane, a place of heroes and villains, monsters and saints.
Filmed entirely in Idaho with an all-Idaho cast and crew, Vagabond Lane marks the sixth feature-length film for Boise resident writer/director Will Schmeckpeper.
Loosely based on Dante's Inferno, Vagabond Lane's protagonist “Carrie” - like Dante - has to travel through the symbolic hell of being a runaway teenager before coming out the other side as a self-reliant and strong independent woman. “I think loosely based is about as close as this film gets to the Inferno,” says Schmeckpeper. “It's symbolic, rather than literal.”
Follow the link below to view trailers of the movie and for information on how to purchase a special edition dvd. Festival entry fees are to be paid with funds generated by the purchase of dvds and cds. The dvds are region free so even if you live in Tortuga you can follow Carrie on her journey through Vagabond Lane.
