Let it snow!!

So I was out in the field for my first time yesterday. I was working with this guy named Ed to supervise a drilling crew. Really easy, watch them drill and tell them where we need to take samples from.

It was pretty interesting seeing the different layers of earth being brought up from the drill, but it was very boring just standing around watching them drill. We started at 730 and finished around 3 and only drilled through 30 feet of earth. Not to mention it was snowing like a biatch out there. And they use water to cool off the drill bit as its drilling so it got a LOT more muddy than it was when we first arrived. But it feels good to finally get my feet wet, literally, lol.

I was sent on my first coffee run of the year. It was about 930 and the driller says, "my body seems to be telling me that it is coffee time." So Ed stayed and watched them while I wewnt and got coffee. I was fine with that because it gave me a chance to warm up! By the time I got back, they were just ready to take out the first sample.

Today's ride into worked sucked, the weather has made the roads pretty terrible. But I still managed to make it on time. Now I have to go talk to an engineer to get the core/soil samples out of the back of my car.
