ZOMG CATS!

Yeah, but this time there are cats. Or was.

The story starts a few weeks ago when I heard a meowing. At first I thought it was my cat, but then I noticed my cat was sitting quietly. But like all great detectives, I can't leave any case unsolved. Some people may say this wasn't a case at all, and it wasn't, UNTIL I made it be so. Later on I discovered two small kittens on my deck.

"How curious," I thought to myself. I said this because I had no recollection of inviting anyone, no less two kittens, to my house to have a garden party. Plus it was winter, and even I am not ridiculous enough to host a garden party in the dead of a Minnesota winter. Now because I am very, very clever, I came to the conclusion that these kittens were uninvited guests living under my deck. I proceeded to invite the kittens in because they were adorable, but they weren't having it. I think it's mostly because they didn't believe I was their mother. Weird. I know.

I left food out for them because I have a soft spot for animals and being kittens living without their mother in more than a foot of snow in below freezing temperatures, I didn't believe they'd fair all that well. I was half right. One died. Or dissapeared or whatever. The other one stayed, meowed, and discovered my cat. The kitten, who I shall refer to as Cardinal Taco Pants, would sit on the deck, staring through the sliding glass door and wait for my cat to come. Then Cardinal Taco Pants would walk the length of the door with my cat, Sir Charles. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Actually Sir Charles didn't really care. He'd only play with Cardinal Taco Pants if I went by the door. But the kitten was in love with Charles. So in love that after several attempts of trying different methods to grab the shivering kitten, Cardinal Taco Pants was finally used to the noise of the sliding door and my presence that I was able to get him inside.

I wanted to keep sweet Cardinal Taco Pants but knew there were lots of vet bills to come to get the kitten checked out and for him to get all his shots, and seeing as that I have quit my day job I knew I couldn't keep him, so I brought him to the Humane Society. Plus Sir Charles gets pretty jealous of other animals, and I didn't need him acting like a douche and not doing his fair share of the house work.

Just another day in the life of Detective Kitten Catcher.
