Ahhh...couldn't make 121, but maybe for Saturday-a quad: St. John's, Burke, Maret, St. Anselm's. In the meantime, let me discuss today's match.
I started out pretty warmed-up and ready to rumble, thanks to the 6-minute match before mine. Burke had a 103 girl wrestle little Springuel, (89 lbs, and a kid who has the attention span of a fly. In addition, for the most part, he just messes around during practice). That ended in a tech-fall after the buzzer. I was thinking that i would have the same opponent that i had wrestled the past two years (and kicked ass), but there was some other guy i didn't recognize.
Right before the whistle he kinda looked intimidated, but then he started wrestling aggressive on his feet. That didn't phase me. He took a shot (not really a bad one at that) but i was able to maintain proper shot defence and i got a takedown. He stood-up a few times, but i just backtripped him and took him back down. One thing that i'm quite pleased about was the arm-bar tilt. It worked pretty well and i was able to jump over him to get the figure-four around his head.
Man...that's one motherfucking bitch-ass move.
However, that just gave me back points and i couldn't get both his shoulders down.
Second period i chose bottom, thinking of some sort of reversal. The first move was a granby roll or switch, but then i thought of the score and knew i should try to put him on his back. So i decided to sit-out and go for a peterson roll. After a little struggling due to a choke (which the ref didn't catch) i was able to complete the roll for 2 points.
The score was 11-1, and Mr. Mann was yelling something like: "you have to pin him now, kid" becuase it was close to a tech fall. So i didn't let-up and i kept with a near-side headlock....which pinned him with 1:25 in the 2nd period.
Yaaaa....
Chris Hendricks (an old classmate) switched schools in the middle of last year to go to burke. Now he's a wrestler. Chris Schraml wrestled him. It was pretty cool to watch, and Schraml really looked like he wanted to win it bad. He eventually pinned him in the second period.
Schiff should have won but the ref said that his opponent didn't have an escap so schiff's takedown didn't count. HE WASN'T EVENTOUCHING HIM!!! that cost schiff the match 2-3. Mr. Mann walked out on the mat to yell at the ref. It was....interesting.
the final score was Burke-20 St. Anselm's-52.
