I decided to make jam tarts to celebrate a new member of the family…a retired greyhound called Champ ☺
Recipe and photos behind the cut for anyone that's interested...I dont know how many of you bake lol.
Ingredients for short crust pastry-
200g of plain flour.
100g of butter.
¼ tsp of salt.
A couple of tsp of cold water.
Sift all the flour and salt into a mixing bowl.
Cut the butter into the flour and then, using your finger tips lightly massage it all together to for a fine bread crumb like consistency.
Sprinkle the water over the crumbs to form a thicker crumbly looking paste, use a rounded knife. Then draw together the mixture with your fingers.
Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead quickly with your hands till the dough is smooth. Roll out and cut desired shapes ☺
Bake on 190c for around 10 mins.
Take out of the oven and spoon in the jam, top with star toppers or whatever you fancy and then continue to bake them as needed (around 15 mins for mine) I brushed them with a little milk as well.
Once out of the over, dust with a little icing sugar and eat till your hearts content!
I have lots of baking on my blog which some of you might enjoy -
