The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 class

I haven't really spoken up on the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class!

The inductees will be Chicago, Cheap Trick, NWA, Steve Miller, and Deep Purple. Almost all of them are bands that you might be scratching your head collectively and saying "I thought they were in already."

It's about time.

I've lost count of how many Chicago albums and compilations I have. It's more than a dozen. At my apartment, I have their Live at Carnegie Hall four disc album, another Chicago Live album from circa 1971, Chicago III, The Heart of Chicago Volume 2, Chocago 40th Anniversay Greatest Hits, Chicago 13, Chicago 16, Chicago 17, Chicago 18, Chicago 21, Chicago 25, Chicago 30, Peter Cetera You're The Inspiration, Peter Cetera You've Gotta Love Christmas,  and that concept album Robert Lamm made with Brian Wilson.

I should make a trip to Cleveland for that.

I would love to see Robert Lamm, Lee Loughnane, Walt Parazaider, Bill Champlain, James Pankow, Jason Scheff, Keith Howland, Danny Serephine, and if possible Peter Cetera up on stage performing together.

Seeing Chicago in concert three times has been three of the most exciting concerts of my life. This is one of the single most exciting Induction classes of my life time.

I saw Chicago at the Coronado Theatre in Rockford, Illinois in 2005. They led off with Dialogue Parts 1 and 2, Questions 67 and 68, amd hit a bunch of their best songs from all corners of their career en route to their 25 or 6 to 4 encore. I saw them in Waukegan at the Genesee Theatre with Mike Scimeca in 2006 and in Moline at the i Wireless Center with my dad in 2011. Hoping to see them again this April!

Cheap Trick is exciting too. So is Steve Miller. I will be interested to see what NWA cooks up for a live show. I completely thought Steve Miller had been inducted years ago.

Better luck next year for The Spinners, Chaka Khan, The Cars, Kraftwerk, and Janet Jackson. Getting on the ballot is to me the equivalent of an Oscar nomination. It got you that close. They may vote you in the next time you come up on the ballot.
