*Ahem* well...uh, I feel a bit uncomfortable here, as I have nothing to argue. Splendid work, well-done all-around.
You touched on this near the end, but kids seem so much colder these days, as if they've led the lives of a 35 year-old two time divorcee. Hope, love, emotion...these are quickly being thrown by the wayside. Why would a 13 year-old sit in his room and ponder his existence when his friends are getting together for their own poker game, or to frag each other all nite playing Halo? Why rebel with a joint when you can work on the jumpshot that could propel you into millions?
We're steadily moving towards the idea that we are indeed capable of anything, that there is no ceiling to hit, no limits. That persistence and networking will yield results, that the world is ripe for picking, and everyone can get a piece.
But that's not the case, is it? This race to adulthood won't pay off in the end. In 30 years, we'll see a bunch of people in their midlife crises wondering where the hell the time went, not knowing where they are or how they got there because they never had the time to figure it out.
