Dearest Nobility,
O my goodness if only it were possible to jump out of my skin!
I know I haven't posted in a while, so this may have the tendency to jump around...a lot. But follow along as best you can if you like...you might be interested in some things that are to follow.
Let's see....well, we could start with the end of school, yea? Yea. I ended the semester with a 3.538 (however that works). Which is, I'll admit, better than I EVER did in high school. So boo ya college, I win.
Um, O! Ryan bought me this really cool ring a couple weeks ago. It's like a harlequin (spelled toooootally wrong) mask. It's awesome :) I love it, cuz it looks really cool when it's on,....yea, I'll show ya when I see ya.
Last night we had some friends over for dinner. Well, sorta. My dad's friend from the navy came, and he brought his daughter, who I've known since...forever. Ryan and Gina came over and the nine of us all played this game called Apples to Apples. Why I decided to share that bit? I don't know. But after the game we all exchanged a couple gifts, I gave Ryan a speaker for his iPod. He didn't bring my gift from him, but I got one from his mom. She gave me this really pretty silver bracelet with this cool heart thingy...it was really pretty. It was good, cuz I had been thinking for a while now that I needed a bracelet.
Kiri woke me up at like...3 this morning. O my god...hahaha. It was terrible, but she was just so excited to go open presents. Anyhoo, we went to open gifts, and my family does this thing where the older you get the less presents you get from the parents, but the more special/expensive/etc. they are, right? So Andrew got a video iPod cuz his old one died. Kiri got one of the new shuffles, cuz she lost her old one (and they bought her another one?! what?!) And as for me...I was given a box about four inches on each side, not tall at all, with a card attached. So I opened the card first, and it read:
"The hand that hath made you fair
hath made you good."
Merry Christmas Sarah!
2006
We love you, Mom and Dad
I figured something was fishy, cuz they had both stopped doing anything else, just to watch me open this gift. Plus they never put a card on our gifts. Then I noticed that the card was dented at the bottom with little letters. ....the dent actually read "Tiffany & CO."
OH.
EM.
GEE.
So I tore into that as fast as I could, and out popped a teal box with a white bow. I untied the bow and took the box lid off, and there was a gorgeous silver bracelet from Tiffany's. It's the "Signature Bracelet" with the big links and the silver heart that says "Please Return to Tiffany & CO. New York"
Now, I am not the quickest person, so I didn't even think of doing anything else but staring at my wrist for the rest of the day. Then Mom said "You like it right? Cuz I saw Mrs. Carey's gift for you. What are you going to do when you go over? Wear mine or hers?"
She wasn't trying to get me to pick who I liked better. She wanted me to like the bracelet. Which I love. So when I went to the Carey's I wore the one my parents gave me. And the second I walked in the door I told her what happened and she laughed. I was so relieved she wasn't upset or anything.
Ryan hasn't given me my gift yet. I'm spending all day Thursday with him, and he's giving it to me that night.
I also got this beautiful pair of black pearl earrings, and Kiri gave me a geisha doll that looks exactly like the one I had when I was in Japan. Andrew gave me this amazing copy of the Grimm fairy tales collection.
Remember that whole "my parents want to move to Colorado kick from way back when? Yra...that changed...to England...about a month ago...and last week, my dad was offered a job. And this past Friday...he accepted it. We're moving to a town called Harrogate in the northern part of the country near York in August. We'll be there for at least three years. At first I was angry, and then I was depressed, and now I've realized, I really want to go. I'll miss this place like hell, but everyone is going away to school, right? This is my going away to school. I'll apply over there somewhere, and when I'm on break I'll come back here, stay with someone, and see everyone.
And Ryan? He's okay with it. Because he's going away to school too, so when he's away, it won't matter whether I'm in MD or Harrogate, we'll still be too far to see each other. I'll plan trips back for when he's home. We decided we'd try to make it work. I think it'll work. I mean, other people can do it, we can too, right?
Okay...pick your jaw up off the desk. Leave me a message or something, let me know how your Christmas was!
Love!
