This weekend was probably one of the best I've had all year, hands down. I went to Cornerstone with Sarah's youth group, plus Brad and Vinnie. She picked me up from school around 3:30, which meant I got to hang out with some of Jackie's friends... pretty cool. I talked to some people I've been wanting to for a while, although most of them are graduating in a few days, so that kind of sucks.
We got there around 5-6ish, and wandered around until the Promise Drive started. They were so great! Sarah met them last year and they remembered her. They weren't the best band I'd ever heard live, but they were really nice, super energetic, and really fun. We met the band afterwards and got their EP and stuff, met some pretty cool girls. After the Promise Drive, we explored the merch area and spent way too much money. Learned about To Write Love On Her Arms, which everyone should definitely check out (myspace.com/towriteloveonherarms). It's a campaign against teenage suicide and depression, basically. Good stuff. Saw some people from church and met up with Joy.
I thought I met David Crowder. I was so flippin excited about it, you have no idea. I wasn't sure if it was really him, cause he looked a little different than I remembered, but some girls were taking a picture with him so I thought I was safe. I sort of approached him, and acted like an idiot, and finally asked him to take a picture with me. He signed it and everything (hooray for poloroids). Alyse was looking at it later though, and we decided it wasn't David Crowder. I could be wrong... but Joy met the real David Crowder and took a picture with him, and he looked completely different. (sigh) I felt like a moron. Well. I am. But anyway.
We then saw Relient K. They were AMAZING. It was the first time I'd seen them live, and I wasn't particularly stoked on seeing them. They're not really my favorite. But they were so good live! I called some people, Alyse and Jon mostly, and Jason called me, but I think all of them were pretty annoyed. I don't think people can really hear anything when you call them from a concert. ... oh well. It was fun. I participated in the fake mosh pit and fell down and lost a shoe, it was pretty hardcore. It was Sarah's first mosh pit. Man I had such a good time with her, I'm so glad I went (I love you Saraaah). We saw David Crowder after that, which was great, but I stayed toward the back. I was tired and pretty embarassed from earlier when I had made a fool out of myself in front of 'him.' This was when I was still convinced I had met David Crowder. Man. I'm mad again.
We went to bed. Nothing exciting there except I forgot a toothbrush. And now I can't find one at home.
Saturday we started with the Myriad- never heard of them before, but they were absolutely awesome! Sarah bought all of their merch, naturally. They were great. Really hot, too. We met them and they were super nice. Not at all like Fake David Crowder, who was a bit of a jerk. THEN WE SAW SHOWBREAD OMG BEST LIVE SHOW EVERRR well maybe competing for first place with Saves the Day... they were awesome. Yes. The rest of the day was filled with buying too much merch and discovering tons of new bands- Family Force 5, Anathallo, Paramore- oh my goodness, Paramore was awesome. This band of a bunch of guys, led by one girl... I thought it was going to be lame, but she was such a great singer! She was super tiny but had a stronger voice than half the guys singing this weekend. I was superbly impressed. Very premium singing there lol. Somewhere in there we left to get Chipotle, and I discovered I can't eat six saltines in one minute... unfortunately.
Then there was Lovedrug, Underoath and Anberlin. It was a shame they all played so late, cause I was getting pretty dang tired. I was laying down for most of Anberlin, actually, but they were all right. Underoath was very impressive, but their fans were even more so. They didn't even need the lead singer, that's how good the fans were. Anyway. Lovedrug was great. I want their cd.
Sarah and I met a bunch of cool people from the bands and took pictures with the poloroid, which was a very premium Idea, thank you Kate. They could sign it that way. Good stuff. Oh, they were all so nice.
And just to finish up talking about the weekend, we didn't get home til about 2 Sunday morning. Wendy's charged me for someone else's meal, which sucked. My mom and I got our ears pierced together for mothers day, which rocked. Spent some time with Alyse, and discovered we were getting too snobby for -omg- Target. I love her.
ALSO: I have just been notified that I may not have someone to go with me to see Dashboard/Say Anything. This is not good news. Is anyone interested?
I thought about you less and less this weekend. =]
