of course she puts it in these terms ice_echani April 27 2010, 12:05:54 UTC
If you remain active while you are sick, your immune system will have less energy with which to fight off the pathogens that have infected you. Even if you do not feel that you are doing anything while resting, you are actually allowing your body the proper resources with which to battle the sickness and defeat it.

It's one of few ways to get through to him. spandexisyouth April 27 2010, 21:46:17 UTC
Oh. I thought that exercise sped up the metabolism which sped up everything else. Exercise hurts it?

In this case, yes, exercise is detrimental to your immediate health. When you are sick, you become fatigued more easily because the pathogen is weakening your body. Exercising would force your muscles to take energy that your immune system needs to produce white blood cells and antibodies that attack the infection.

The fatigue you feel from sickness is from the battle that is inside of you. By resting, you allow energy to replenish, which gives your immune system more to fight with.

So it is draining strength from me and I need the strength to fight this off. Cooperating means I win the battle.

Correct. I know it is frustrating when it seems the weapon you must use is surrender, but you must keep in mind what is happening internally.

Would you like me to bring you some books while you are fighting off this illness?

It is hard to remember that. But I will do what I can.

Yes. I would like that very much, please. I have read all of mine and I do not think Lotus has any.

Very well. Do you have any preferences on what to read? I have collected books on many subjects, though mainly historical ones.

History of where? That could be very interesting! I would like to read some history books.

Mine are all on combat styles. Would you like to borrow them back?

Star Wars = monocultural planets, so she's kind of *_* at Earth lol ice_echani April 28 2010, 00:31:38 UTC
Mostly of the planet Earth. I do not have very much about other planets, but this one seems to have limitless variety in culture and history despite how isolated it seems. I will pick out some for you at random, then.

If you do not mind, I would be glad to read them.

[She'll bring him a book about Prohibition, Korean naval history, the Aztecs before the conquistadors, and silk.

...She got a lot out of the Mall of America.]

Aw, hee. spandexisyouth April 28 2010, 00:39:40 UTC
I do not know about Earth but I would like to learn.

I do not mind at all. I have read them.

[He'll offer in exchange books on Capoiera, Eskrima, Wing Chun, and Russian fist fighting. He raided the mall pretty hard too.]
