Everything should have a name.

[Strokes on the paper are lighter, more freehand than her normal writing, like some absent-minded doodling] A name.

[And then it returns to the neat, precise script] Are names very important?

If you give a name to something, it means that you care about it. Even if it is a very simple name. If you do not name it, then you are not attached for some reason. Or you do not want to be attached.

I think that they are.

I see. That is a very nice way to put it.

But [pause] if that's the case, then many of us are missing something important. Our real name.

Yes. We are. That is part of why the memory loss is so big. We have lost how we are identified by people that we are important to. But then we choose names! We choose new ways for people to call us so they know who it is they have a connection with, and we use these while we wonder if we will ever get our names again.

I have never thought of it that way before. Do you like the name you chose for yourself here?

I do. It is drawn from the little I know, and seems to fit me so far! What about you and yours?

Mm, I like mine, too. It will always remind me of space, I think.

It's there now. LJ just likes to eat them. spandexisyouth April 4 2010, 21:18:22 UTC
I do not know that we have written before! Your handwriting looks familiar but I cannot remember your name. I have not read many names that were spacelike; I do not know much about space at all.

I am Youth!

Ah, I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. I am Stardust. I suppose not everyone here knows about space, but that's alright. That means it's an opportunity to learn from and understand each other, rigiht?

It is wonderful to meet you, Youth.

It hated me too last night. spandexisyouth April 5 2010, 03:38:09 UTC
That is fine! We were talking!

I have only been to space, as far as I know, when there was a dome in the Wilderness. And it is splendid to meet you too, Stardust!
