00! Be careful. It eats socks. But nothing else. I am not sure why. I tried to feed it a hat. It did not go for it.

Yes. It is a sock monster. It is not harmful to people.

Do you know where I live?

Understood.

[SHE IS BRINGING A BASKET OVER THERE TO GET IT.]

[Youth kept his hold on the little creature, going out to the living room and making sure that the door was unlocked. Tenzou was nudged firmly out of the way.]

Shoo.

[00 walks over there as quickly as she can with a lidded basket to carry the sock monster in, following Youth's directions precisely. She's intensely relieved that he hasn't spoken of any harm coming to the creature, but that's mixed with concern over the fact that the creature's existence has been revealed over the journals....

Knock knock.]

[Hearing the knock, Youth stopped paying attention to the dogs.]

Come in! It is unlocked!

[Perhaps that wasn't the best idea ever, but the little creature was FAST, and he couldn't exactly get the door. If the person at the door was a threat, he'd let the 'sock monster' go. But until then, he'd keep it safe for 00.]

[She steps inside and looks around, spotting Youth. And the dogs. But most importantly, the sock monster in his hands.

She walks over quickly, opening the basket--it has a towel in it and a few socks. When she speaks, her voice is at a normal volume rather than her usual murmur and quite businesslike.]

Place it in this basket. It will be sufficient for its transport.

[Youth nodded, complying.]

There you are. You will be safe and home soon.

[Then he looked at, and addressed 00.]

I think he is unharmed. But I do not know. I have not seen one of these before. Does he have a name?

[She watches for a second or two as the sock monster takes an immediate interest in the food, making sure it's not hurt, and then gently shuts the lid.

She looks up at Youth's question, not sure. It... should have a name, shouldn't it? Now her voice is at a murmur again.]

I don't think so.

[He notes the care she takes with it. For someone who seems to try to not care about things much, she's attached to the little thing.]

You should give him one!

[00 looks back down at the basket. It isn't that she tries not to, she just... doesn't know how to, or doesn't know how to express it properly. And isn't always sure when she does.

She's got some issues.]

I wonder if it would know or care?

[The question may sound bleak and/or cynical, but it's not supposed to be. She honestly wonders if it would mean anything to the sock monster to be called by a name... most pets have names, she knows, and people need them. But she wouldn't know what a good name would be.]

[Youth didn't know this about her. But he was more than willing to give her time and to try to teach her if she needed it. He enjoyed teaching.]

They know. Pets always know.

[He nodded toward the dogs.]

All one must do is say the name of one of those two, and they know it! Watch. Leaf! How are you?

[At his words, the small puggle barked and wagged his hindquarters happily.]

Even my turtle knows that his name is Turtle. It means something. It shows a bond and that he is important.
