So I didn't go to San Diego this weekend...
...but I thought, I could still kind of pretend. Keep up with my friends who were, reading tweets, reading news, looking at con pics, not bathing so I smelled my own reek for a few days, etc.
Seriously, though, I thought I should maybe do my own Not-Con Sketches as my exercise for the week. So I dusted off my markers, cut some bristol down to half-letter size, and went nuts. Some ideas are mine, some I got from friends. I tried to keep myself to under an hour per sketch (I was successful on some, not so much with others), and allowed myself no digital work except the scanning, and a bit of level adjustment because my scanner sucks. Oh, and I also promised myself I would post them no matter how much I hated the way they turned out. I like some more than others.
So here they are, in no particular order, under the cut.
My friend spielorgh wanted the Reepicheep from the book illustrations, not the movie.
(the "Buddy Christ" pose didn't really come across as well as I hoped.
Oh, well. I still think it's funny.)
This was supposed to be Sgt. Angua von Uberwald from Terry Pratchett's
Discworld books. This is my least favorite.
Have I mentioned I really liked "Half-Blood Prince"? I really did.
As Mialee will tell you, displacer beasts will **** up your **** with
some ****** ************ and ********* ** tentacles. Or something.
This was a character sketch request from Eiji for his NPC Coeurl.
Those of you out there who've read 30's sci-fi will get the joke.
I'm neither Terry Dodson nor Bruce Timm, but I thought this one was good.
This coming week will be a busy one for me, bank wise. The week after that should make up for it productivity-wise by having nearly everyone I know either go on vacation or drop off the internet or both, including my wife (though admittedly, it's kind of a working vacation). As cattifer is wont to say, "Jinkies."
