I made money~

I think I've finally decided where I'm going to college.

Even though Chester is giving me the full paid four-years tuition, I got a letter from Endicott today saying that if I can maintain a 3.0+ GPA each year I attend, I will get $8,000. That's better than any of the other offers I received from SNHU, Plymouth, or UMass Dartmouth, even though it's not as good as the Chester offer. Endicott has grown on me; it's a beautiful campus, there are ample employment opportunities, the art program is strong, but students have plenty of choices to pick from in order to integrate other classes and areas of study into their curriculum. I think I want to go to Endicott.

Of course, I'm keeping my options open. In April I'll go to both the SNHU and Endicott accepted student open houses since you get free food at open houses, but now the biggest task is to get a car and get a job, although not necessarily in that order. I'd rather get the job first, but meh. I really, REALLY don't want to work in food-service; I would much rather work with children. I spent 250 hours of community service working at the Textron daycare center, and well over 100 hours working with Destination ImagiNation. Why not stick with something I enjoy?

Today I had my first tutoring session, and since it was "out-of-school," I earned money. I know that's pitiful, and the better half of me was saying that I really ought to just do it for free, but I have like a buhzillion community service hours complete, and I am REALLY REALLY BROKE right now. The house wasn't too difficult to find, but Dad says next time I'm driving there on my own. The girl's name was Kayla, and she needed a tutor in sixth-grade math. Math is my weakest subject, but sixth-grade math isn't too bad. She even has the same teacher I had for sixth-grade math, and she looks like one of those kids who appear physically older than they really are, but she was responsive and well-behaved. I think her biggest difficulty is that she's a visual learner (like I am), and because she wasn't writing out each step for the equations she would get lost and not know what to do next. I really hope I helped because I tried my very best. I suppose tomorrow's homework check will answer that...

The National Honors Society is holding a game night tomorrow, using "Family Feud" to raise some money hopefully for scholarships, so I'll be out most of the evening after 6PM. Hopefully I won't get a lot of homework, but by the black rood of Waltham(!), I really need to finish The White Company before the weekend!
