Marc Jacob’s is one of today’s designers who has no doubt made his name synonymous with high fashion and has been nicknamed to have the timely ability to design what the fashion pack wants to wear before they know they want to. Born in New York City he attended the High School of Art and Design and from there became a graduate of Parsons School of Design, and while attending earned some of the schools highest honors such as the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award and Design Student of the Year
In 1988 Perry Ellis another notable designer invited Jacobs to head his womanswear line, something Jacobs jumped at the chance to be able to do. While he was her be made a notable change in the fashion industry by designing a “timely grunge” that was well received by such high ranking fashion notables like Anna Wintour, and Kal Ruttenstein. It can best be described as a translation of the look of bands such as Pearl Jam and Nirvana. This landed him with winning the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Womenswear Designer of the Year award, something any creative designer would be thrilled with.
In 1994 Marc Jacobs went on to make a distinctive mark in his life, we he became business partners with Robert Duffy, and launched his own line into the fashion world. This first collection integrated details of vivid color, textures and silhouettes; it was named as being “post grunge glamour.”
